:) I must have the only collision paint guy that works steady and cranks out work...I took him in a bike load of parts this winter and he put them to the head of the line and had all custom paint done for tank..side covers..front fairing..and tailpiece done within 2.5 weeks...I couldn't get back fast enough to pick them up...This guy is excellent and everyone at my dealer's place is loving the look too...

$490 to paint a tank isn't a bad price if you cost this stuff out. He may have gallons of colors but if I am doing a two color job I would have to buy two quarts of color, reducer and hardener along with clear and that alone would add up to probably $300 to $400. Strip the tank and sand between coats and rub it out and it takes awhile.

I'll bet if you have him do side covers and fenders it will jump way up over a grand. That's why there are so many rat bikes:eek:.... they run just as well.

When I was a kid (back when gas was 21 cents a gallon), I got a chance to work for a sign painter in Cleveland (back when signs weren't pressure sensitive vinyl but hand painted). He was also a pinstriper and he taught me. When I built my sidecar outfit I needed it pinstriped to match the T100 and the only pinstripers I could find were way too arrogant, drunks or just had too much work so I got my brushes out (your brushes will last forever if you wrap them in newspaper and hang them vertically in boiled linseed oil) and started practicing, like 3 months worth and many sheets of art paper to get my striping hand back. I ended up completely striping the sidecar in a matching 1/8" red stripe to match the factory pinstrip on the T100. Would I do it for others? Probably not.

Neutrality is the byword of a successful businessman.

I'm STILL waiting on my painter to finish my parts! I must have chosen the slowest painter in the country... 4 weeks and counting.

Looks like I'm going to miss the first Maxton meet on April 5th. No gas tank means no new header work and no tuning. Next Maxton date is May 17.

Sorry for your delay. I'm still going to try to come down to Maxton and cheer you on, just keep us filled in. The body shop has had Lisa's bike parts since Feb. 2nd. That was only going to be 2 weeks, and that is just a simple blue with some white stripes.
