Well...it looks like I may be shelving my idea of getting the Stallion Trike...at least for the immediate future. Maybe when I get a little older and start doubting my ability to hold a heavy motorcycle up and start to dropping it on ocassion...then I'll move into trike land and it probably will be the Stallion.

And for my choice of bikes it looks like I am at my "getting the best of both worlds" decision making time again. I am going to go for the Rocket III Tourer and the 1700 Thunderbird. I was having a hard time deciding between the Tourer and the Thunderbird so I decided I will probably get both...that'll solve that problem real fast.

One of my misgivings on the Tourer was I was afraid that'll the colors will remain the same. I've decided that if it doesn't come out in the color I would prefer I will just "selectively" paint the few offending items and make it to where I can live with it. The 1700 Thunderbird currently is going to be offered only in those two slow colors (like the Roadster...Gloss Black and Matte Black) so I will also probably keep some of the black pieces but I will selectively paint a few of the pieces in red to highlight it some.

Still have 5 months to go before I do this but in March I should have my bikes...go away for two months, finish my time with Dyncorp and then come home for some heavy riding...as soon as my wife and I finish our vacation time together.

I guess you could say I am "over compensating" for not having one since April and by March that will almost be a year without...not that I missed it that much over here...but....

Originally I was going to pay cash for the Stallion (around $34 - 35K) since I am not (as of now) going that route...that is almost enough to get the two bikes.

I have a very understanding and patient wife.

Good for you Brother.... Luckily mine is paid for as well. I just transfered to the actual construction site in the Delta on the coast, very much like a prison complex, miss my flat and compound in Warri with the nice bush bar.. No office, no phone just squatting in a conex and using a rotating expats desk for a few. Looks like my department got cut by Chevron from next years budget so maybe heading home for Christmas to stay or maybe off to support the project in Australia, in Korea or Bataan? Lots a competition for overseas work now, may end up at Walmart? I was looking at a second bike as well when I was home, leaning towards a used victory to turn into a bobber, stripped and loud and all flat black or black powder coat. Your choices sound awesome good luck.

You might wait a few weeks or so and check out the new Ducati Diavel. Should have 150 HP and be under 500 lbs. It would make a nice companion to a touring bike. Looks like the V-Max may get knocked off the top of the Power Cruiser class.

Ducati - The name is Diavel

I'm not too sure about them 'thar Italian bikes. Working at D&D Cycles I had the misfortune to see quite a few of the "first" service work tickets on the Ducati's....I am not that fond of spending that much money for a first service. It did look nice but I think I, myself, would have a problem with that seat.

In my original post I was thinking the new "black" 1700 Thunderbird. I think what I may do is try and get the current red/black special edition 1700 that is currently out and see if it is still available in Feb when I'll put an advance deposit on one so that it'll be there when I come home in March.
