I put 750 miles on the Rocket over the last 3 days, bike went well and is making real good power, so good in fact that in 4th or 5th if you give it a handfull the clutch slips, normally around the 3500-4000 rpm then it gradually bites, if you feed the power on gently its ok. I checked and adjusted the cable so I know its should be good, but it continued to slip slightly after I had re adjusted the outer cable at the clutch pivot and also the lever play, I dont think it will improve now, any captains had this issue previously and if so whats the fix? 8)

I had exactly this problem with my clutch (as well as another, unrelated failure). Took it into the dealer who said Triumph had had some clutches that were sub-par. Got a new clutch assy in. He put the old plates on a table and they weren't flat. This would definitely cause the problem you describe. Mine's fixed now.

New clutch springs.

It solved my problem (at 10,500 miles of 150+ RWTQ).

Unfortunately, for the work involved you might as well go with the whole Barnett clutch pack at $220 which comes with heavier springs. It seems to be holding well, and if it ever gives I'll go with heavier springs or Nev's lockup clutch.

FWIW, my clutch plates looked brand new...oh well, you like that easy factory clutch pull dontcha...? Well, this is the price

I just got back from a visit w/ my dealership today. I learned something interesting that the mechanic told me about the Rocket. He stated that he has had 3 Rockets come in to his shop w/ complaints about clutch slippage. One was on a stock Rocket and the other 2 where modified. He states that the problem wasnt the clutch springs but the nozzel was plugged with debris limiting and/or stopping the oil spray to the clutch. This was enough to cause severe slippage. He states that he blew out the debris and everything was top notch again. Only one had bad damage to the clutch pads because it was ridden; admittedly, quite a bit after slippage started. Dunno if this will help but maybe have that nozzel checked out for free flowing oil while your into the clutch.

Oh well I suppose thats another weekend job, would rather do it myself than give it to the dealer. 8)
