2023 Triumph R3 GT, 2022 Moto Guzzi V85TT,
This has probably been wrapped around the tree many times. Ever since I got the bike bugs worked out ,and up and running ,I have noticed a chatter coming from the clutch. It does not do it all the time. Mostly when the bike engine is cold. When I let the lever out about half way this glitch will happen.
Awhile back a friend told me it could be e cutch cage. This is a EARLY 2006, with about 42K on the clock . The clutch pates have been replaced prior to my getting it. While I had it in the stand I did go in and check the clutch plates , and proper torque.
thanks in advance

I think most Rockets do it, mine certainly does, some are more noticeable than others. Mine bugs me to the point I thought I would strip it out to see what was what. Had the chief tech from a local dealer have a listen before I threw a lot of money at a new cage etc, and he just said it would be a waste of hard earned cash.

The rattle goes when you lift the clutch so reckon its the end float on the cage, the difference between one bike and another is just manufacturing tolerances.

my 2005 did it from new and still does it
I think its something to do with backlash and the torque spring and a half engaged clutch

ignore it , its just part of the bikes setup

its the clearence between the lifter piece and the end of the input shaft as your pulling the lever it is working its way back in the pressure plate bearing. Personally I would not worry about it as it is more pronounced with the older style lifter piece because the head diameter is smaller. Let it ride until something like the fibers wear. Then when you go to renew it you can update it. If it works well don't mess with it :) Just keep the proper free play adjustment of 2 to 3 mm.

When Bloor first set up the NEW Triumphs, he made it very clear that these new bikes would have absolutely nothing in common with the old Triumphs. (Which of coarse is a good thing)

BUT, our Triples and the 70's Triples have one thing in common, The clutch set-up and adjustment.
Having ridden the earlier Triples since the mid 70's I can tell you that the Rocket has exactly the same issue's as the old bikes :-(
