Ok. So I got my new Cycle World and am looking at the chart in the bike comparison ride between several big cruisers. One of the bikes is the Rocket III Touring. On page 47 there is a chart. Am I reading it correctly that it only has 93.5hp and will only go 111mph? Perhaps I am reading the chart wrong. I haven't paid much attention to the newer versions of my bike so I am not up to speed on them. But if I am reading it correctly, I am so glad I got one of the original ones.

Hopefully I will have my Cycle World today as well, but yes, I believe that is about correct. They sacrificed HP/top end speed to give it more low end torque than our RIIIs. This would be more useful for traveling two-up with a large load, than the ability to do 140+ MPH in no time flat.. :)

I'll stick with mine though..

You read it exactly right, Sunny (and, no, I am not just trying to be flirtatious again ) .

A factory, self-inflicted power deficit of 25 to 35+% (depending on the measurement, i.e. crankshaft vs. rear wheel, SAE vs DIN, etc.). Here, CW's 93.5 HP measurement was read as... 87.0 rearwheel HP by a German mag, vs. 113.1, on the same bench, for our std mount. Same specs, mufflers, tune et all.

On the positive side, the 2008 Road King produced only 64.0 ponies in the same comparo:D.

With kind regards.

Jamie:)

Best to you and to your companion (I have pledged to the moderators here not to read flirtatious any more).

Jamie

What's up with that? Don't the guys here like you flirting with them? Perhaps you forgot to promise to model their Paul Stanley purple thong?:D:rolleyes: Sorry guys couldn't help myself.:D:rolleyes:

I guess you and will be about the only ones on this forum for a few days since all of them are going to E.S. I was reading their posts and sure wishing I hadn't backed out. Maybe somehow I could have done that and seen Cher. Oh well too late to cry over spilt milk now I guess.

Wow! I just learned something new. We have a six image limit on these messages. It objected to me so I had to delete your two images. so sorry and I like them.

T'was on the other forum. wasn'it? And moons ago. Once I wrote something silly further to a post of yours , that you seductively deemed provocative.... and you threatened retaliation. With one proviso. And that was that I had to fly to your place to endure it on-site.

We can't keep on comunicating like that, Sunny. People will talk:D

LUV. Jamie.

It seems that the majority of the lost horsepower is in the tune. The R3T tune opens the secondaries less than 50% at anything above 3500 RPMS. The Standard/Classic stock tunes open the secondaries 100% at higher RPMS.

Luckily Tuneboy can fix that minor mistake.

As for the top speed, yes it is limited to 120. That is mainly due to the H rated 180 rear tire. And having spent a bit of time at or near the 120 mark I wouldn't want to raise the limit. With the windshield and bags the bike can develop a bit of a weave at 110+ on some roads.

Hmm:rolleyes: Sorry I guess I have slept since then and forgotten.

That weave would have to be scary. Once again I am glad I have the original model. Shoot my normal passing speed is 110. And then I have having fun on a little stretch that has lots of visual to watch out for the local fuzz or any critters crossing the road I absolutely hit over the 110 mark. Sorry it gets the adrinaline going.
