carbs anyone?

does anyone else wish triumph still fitted carburetors ? i'm an old school spanner man (wrench man to some of you ) the thought of plugging my rocket into a laptop sends shudders down me back. i'm sure if i gave it a go it would turn into a domestic appliance or an expensive ornament now carbs on the other hand are a joy to play with, much more fun than pressing buttons and getting tourettes . before you all start with how inefficent they are and agricultural just stop and think. out of all the tech questions on this forum electronics must make up at least 70% of the problems. think about all the magic boxes and sensors and gizmos that could be dumped in favour of the old technoligy. i'm talking a bank of H.S.R flat slide mikunis, or maybe just one big mutha ! box of various jets and needles and away ya go food for thought, just thinking aloud really but i'm sure there would be takers. ME FIRST !

I sure do right now! I'm waiting on plug wires, but I don't think they are all of my problem.. I would be riding right now with carbs!.. lol

Hell Dave, bring back the kickstarts and there wouldn't be any issues as to gas mileage because none of us old farts would be able to get the bike running. Just a bunch of old men out in the garage sitting on their silent Rockets.

The Rocket is my first EFI bike. Although I'd become quite good at maintaining, rejetting and syncing good ol' carbs, I've got to admit I just love not having to deal with them anymore. Long live EFI!!

Electronic ignition, fuel injection etc. were all initially mandated in automobiles because drivers had gotten too lazy to perform all the needed maintenance necessary to make the engine run efficiently. Smog and pollution was out of control in California primarily because of the huge number of cars running like sh*t.
Government regulators decided that cars needed to run for 100,000+ miles maintenance free with acceptable emissions. Points and carbs had to go away to make that happen, bummer I know.

I dread the day when we can't even build our own carb equipped motor. In a few years you won't be able to buy an incandescent light bulb, I'm surprised we can still buy ignition points. lol
