Cable for Garmin 390 sat nav to plug into din socket

I'm going to fit my sat nav somewhere on the bars and just use a cable to plug into the din socket (is there such a cable available?) as i don't want it permanently wired on my bike, a short cable would be best. Do you know if this will charge the satnav while the bike is on the go or do youn need the special garmin cable to do this?

Depending on your unit, if you use a USB interface instead of the harness, the GPS may think it's connected to a PC and not operate properly. You may need to power it from the cradle. Also you give up any protection as it relates to waterproofness.

Powerlet makes DIN to Garmin cables in various lengths. I used to use a 6" one with my old GPS, before I permanently wired the mount

It's been a couple of years since I bought anything so no links. They sold through Amazon and RevZilla
