Buffeting?

I mentioned this to a few guys on the trip and nobody seemed to know.

I am running exposed triple k&n's with secondaries removed. Everything is smooth until 3,000 rpm, then I get this loud and annoying "buffeting" sound from the filters. It get's worse under acceleration.

A while back there was a post about the secondaries being there to smooth out airflow in the midrange rpm's.

Has anyone else had this problem? Did re-installing the secondaries make any difference?

Yep I noticed the same when I fitted mine I am sure it is cause by the thottle bodies being wide open and at a point the TB are working hard in a 123 sequence at a rapid rate so its a sort of sound barried speed effect if that makes sense.. I thought my motor was knocking when I first heard it.
I am sure the secondaries would act as dampers and muffle the sound, but I just live with it.

Yea its a strange sound to get used to but Warp9.9 hasnt made a comment about it and he would know if its a problem.
The chirping sound is what annoys me.
 
My secondaries are removed and I have the triple filters. No odd sounds coming from my bike mate.

I am at a loss as neither of my steads use triple filters. As long as its not detonation your hearing then its down to whether you think its anoying or not. Does it keep coming after 3000 or is it just there when you twist her hard at 3000?
 
When installing the KNs I removed the secondaries. But later on I reinstalled them. I really can't remember why but it was a test and turn moment. I left them in and just opened them up 100% in all gears using TuneECU. Now it might be me but the throttle bodies seemed quieter all the time with the secondaries installed but with them held open all time would seem strange. There is always going to be some noises going on without the stock air inlets and such. I'll take note next time out riding and see if I can hear the "buffeting" around 3000 rpm.
