Ok, I give up. I saw the link posted in this part of the forum before (I think), but can't seem to find it now.

I'm looking to outfit me and the better half with some new riding gear; jackets, rain suits, etc. Can/will someone please post up a few good sites to take a look at? We're not looking to break the bank, and would prefer good quality stuff that'll last a few years.

Or, if I did manage to overlook the thread, just point me to the right one.

Thanks!

Alister,

Two suggestions:

(1) Go to your local motorcycle shops. Most have a variety of outerwear that may meet your needs. Try on the ourerwear because sizes vary from product to product. Take note of the price that they are asking and then search on line for that product line. You'll find a tons of places that are offering the same product online and on occassion you'll beat your local prices even including shipping.

(2) Go to the nearest motorcycle rally. Most large rallies have a ton of vendors that want to sell you their product. You can try everything on and make sure that it fits. In some cases (Daytona for instance) they will custom fit their products to your body.

Either of these suggestions will give you the opportunity to try on a variety of clothing lines to determine which you like best. Ordering online or buying at a vendor tent/store will be entirely your call.

One suggestion as far as fitment... Pay close attention to collars and to cuffs on jackets. Some expensive jackets have very irritating collars and cuffs.

Some of my favorites...

Awesome! Thanks for the suggestions.

(I think this ought to be a pinned/sticky thread)

And thanks for the advice, RatBoy. I intend to do some trying-on, once I'm no longer 8,500 miles from home (less than a week!). I know the two shops in Mountain Home tend to mark things up rather badly, and neither has a reasonable selection of stuff. Might just hit up some of the bigger Japanese-brand places when I go to pick up the new Bonnie, while avoiding the big Hardly shop!

Want your local dealer to be your local dealer? Buy from them or they won't be your local dealer anymore.

As for my local dealer.. If my local dealer kept atleast a few items in stock, I would buy from them. My wife wanted to check out some of Triumph's gloves and riding boots last time I visited because some nice boots would really extend her riding season on her Trophy, but they didn't even have any for her to look at, much less try on. We did try to order a set of gloves from the dealer, but they told us about a week after putting in the order, that the gloved had been discontinued, so I just gave her mine..

I understand needing to support your local dealer, but alot of the Triumph dealers out there don't carry anything to support them with. I was going to buy a new T-shirt at the Waco Triumph dealer, when Mark and I met up there for our trip to RAA-III, but.. they had stopped carrying the shirt I wanted. Granted, it was a dealer shirt, but I really like the one I bought from them before, and I had hoped to buy more.

If I have to order them, I'll just order them online. It's a 60 mile, not so exciting ride to the dealer.

I've actually got most of my apparel off of Ebay. My most recent acquistion was an Icon Burner jacket that matches the flames on my bike.. :) It also came with a set of gloves to replace the Triumph ones that I gave my wife.. :)
