I totaled my Tiger and I'm looking for what is to be my new bike. I love the new 1700 engine, but I HATE cruisers. I would love to see the 1700 in a standard chassis similar to the Bonneville. I had a bonnie and spent about $8000.00 on bore, stroke, cams, suspension, clutch, exhaust, flatside carbs, the list goes on but the result was that the engine seized three times and I guess it just wasn't going to be what I wanted. I fell in love with the Tiger and it needed few mods but I was thinking that I just love that big twin 1700. If only they had a sport version. I wonder if anyone here has raised the Tbird with suspension mods and maybe higher pipes to make this Bird handle in the twisties? Maybe I will end up going back to another Tiger but I was just thinking what if that 1700 was in a sportier chassis. I don't have anything against you cruiser guys its just that I know I won't be satisfied scraping exhausts all day.

Perhaps a Honda would be to your liking, us big old mean cruisers might be more than thee can wrestle comfortably :D. Rockets are quite unique. You might like a VRod, or Vmax better than banging around on these "Mack Truck" motorcycles.

I believe sir you'd like the Rocket,
you might want to try the new Roadster.
It's more in line with what you said you want.
Twisty's? NO PROBLEM.
There's a few of us gonna do some twistys in May.
Ever heard of the Tail of the Dragon?
youtube it.
I think we can keep up with most sport bikes when the need arises..
JM2CW,

Unfortunately he'll probably see the Goldwing scraping at night video on the Dragon and equate that to a Rocket (cruisers you know).

Notice the sad music to accompany the video.

YouTube - Deals Gap Gold Wing Sparkies

Isn't Triumph still using "GO YOUR OWN WAY"

And there was a guy named Yellow Wolf who rode his Gold Wing 1,000 miles in a 24 hour period on the Dragon...back and forth...back and forth...better man than I. I don't think our sport bike dreamer would be able to keep up with him.

By your description of the type of ride you are used to and that you burned out a Bonneville before you totaled your Tiger not sure if you are the type to be "patient" with the Rocket (Roadster) and live within it's potential.

But...welcome to the site...and I hope you find the type of bike you are looking for to do what you want to do with it.

who said the rocket is a crusier?
with over 140hp and same numbers on torqe,,,,,,,
I also scraped the pegs once,
i have a friend that rides a 955i, had it for about 5 years and he considers himself a decent rider, a few months back we went for a ride to a very nice section of OK, (Skip,i belive you know what Spavinaw looks like) He could not keep up with my "crusier" and i did not scraped the pegs that time:)
BTW welcome to the site!

yep, know that area quite well Lupe.
Nice sweepers up there.
Some pretty hairy twistys too,
ya can't be sight seeing much.

Nice song BTW Josey.
Can't say much for all the lights on that garbage truck,
oh wait, that was a cruiser....
just the kind of mournful song I'd expect a man with a handle like JoseyWales to dig.
I know I liked it.
