2010 Rocket Roadster with Jardines 2006 Kawasaki Concours
Thanks again to all the great comments and welcoming support I recieved when i joined about a month ago. At that time we still had snow on the ground here in Anchorage-but since then I have had my (new to me) 2010 Roadster out many times. I am the guy who had not ridden in over 30 years and some well placed "concern" was expressed about starting out on, what I know refer to as "The Beast." Well, once I got started I found i could not stop!! Riding this motorcycle is more fun than I have in a very long time and I wished I had done it earlier.

Contrary to some reports from the web, I find it handles quite easily in town and I enjoy riding around town as much as on the highway...but the highway-oh boy. That sensation of opening the throttle and going from 70 to 90mph in a blink of the eye is beyond description! :) I love my Rocket III You can come and get my guns...but my Rocket-no way daddy. Now I need a real manual for it cause when i"m not riding it then I am drinking beer and staring at it-and I want to know everything about it!

I love the photos of the customized work folks have done on their R3's-I will have to explore the site to see if they are organized in one spot-and one last thing-I have yet to see another Rocket in Anchorage-plenty of V-twins everywhere-Any Rocket riders from Anchorage?

The beast

Glad your enjoying your beast .they are very addictive .my wife has given up sending me down to the shop on my r3 , she reckons what takes her ten minutes takes me around three to four hours .

With your long winter season you should eventually have the most custom bike on this site :D

The power of the bike is like an addiction. Mine seems to be happiest cruising at about 85mph. The wife now only rides with me if I promise her not to get too happy with the throttle.:D The good thing is, if I obey, my ribs don't get hurt.

Heat Shields and guns

Oh yeah Vanguard 138-I will be keeping my guns! A figuire or speech of course-for dramatic effect-Show me a real Alaskan and I'll show you a gun owner...and with that long winter i will be doing some work-my Beast came with aftermarket exhaust-"Jardine" I believe you folks are callin it...Anyhow the "Heat Shields" (is that the right term?) were poorly fitted:( where it goes 3 into 1 leaving about a 3/4 inch gap-I'd like to try and fix that.

It doesnt seem to bother anyone but me! I will post a pic to the exhaust forum at some point this fall.
