OK...dropped my brand new (to me) 2008 R3T off at the dealer (Motohio in Columbus) TWO WEEKS AGO to get the damage from a shipping incident repaired...very minor..bent shifter rod and linkage...tried calling last night and the voice mail would not take any more messages - not a good sign.
anyway, they just called...ooops..only one of your parts came in a few days after you dropped it off...BUT, the other part is on backorder...could be a week..could be months...guess we neglected to tell you about it when it happened...
tell me this: is triumph parts control that BAD? do they send back invoices with backordered stamped on them with no date of shipment?? are you supposed to use a ouija board? are all triumph dealers this bad?
So far, this R3T experience is sucking mightily...had it for 2 weeks...have yet to ride it. am already paying for it, just not riding it.
Do any of you know where I can find Triumph Part #: T2080749 without waiting for the limey gits in the UK to hand carve one and put it on a slow boat?? Top dollar paid.

So, Triumph having a part on backorder translates into 'Dealers suck'?

Its not that I'm a big fan of all dealers but, it seems that so far yours is doing what they can. The fact that they can't get the part from Triumph is not their fault.

Have you tried Bike Bandit? Have you started calling other dealers and checking their inventory? Seems like that would be a good place to start.

What is the part (nomenclature)? I have some odds and ends from a conversion to foot boards.

Seriously, the backorder status has little to do with the dealer. I've had my issues waiting for Triumph to get parts in from across the pond as well.

If a part is hard to find, do NOT use Bike Bandit. They are not an authorized Triumph parts supplier and are on the bottom of the list when backorders arrive in Atlanta. Confirmed with Triumph N.A.

When I had my backorder issue with the primary TPS, I called Baxter's Triumph in Iowa. I had the new TPS in 3 days. Spend some time calling around yourself and go easy on the local dealer.

Aaah 'Limey Gits'? You have obviously never tried to order a Harley part in UK six months for anything other than a service item pretty much sums up their service over here.

It's just the way it goes man, if you want parts availability in the US buy a Harley, if you want something different then you have to make allowances.

I had a similar experience, with a dealer in my area, I paid for and ordered a part for my R3T, I was told it would take 5-10 days for it to arrive, 6 weeks later and after several phone calls to the Dealer, I was finally told that the part was no longer being made and out of stock. one week after that the dealer called me and told me the part was in

Who knows......

Looks like that part is nothing more than a short threaded rod... I think I would be down at the ace hardware trying to find a quick fix till the part arrives. If you make it to Maggie valley there should be plenty in stock at the holiday motel parking lot (Bring your own tools and flashlight) :D
