A Day in the Life

Good post, it took a while to realize most of what they taught you in school was bull**** or wrong. I am apolitical, in the sense that I'm on nobodies side, like WC Fields, I never vote for, I always vote against. But nothing bothers me more than someone who thinks they know better than I do what's good for me.I think the parties switch every so often, like the poles, we may live such a time.

Yup a big problem today is people cannot have a civil conversation. As far as the Civil War I had family on both sides. I have visited graves on both sides of the war. Those people in the ground are my heritage. My grandmother was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy, but I was with her as we decorated Union graves in my youth.

I have conservative tendencies I know, but feel I am color blind. Military taught me we are all green.

Our country was founded as a citizen government. I feel our downfall will be we have let professional politicians take over our government. They make our laws, but do not live under them. They keep us divided into our manageable groups. We are all being played.

My daughter is a senior in high school this year. She is taking government. She came home from the first day of school with some questions about our government. I sat down and we read the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights. She had never read them. How can that happen. When I was in school we went through them every year. We had to memorize the Gettysburg Address.

If our schools no longer teach the basic principles of our country we are doomed.

Wow this post really took a turn.

Re military, not my thing, I always knew it wasn't, people ask me if I ever served, I say are you kidding, I couldn't even make it through high school, I always knew. So I'm ignorant about it, a friend who was career military, pretty redneck, who I assumed was probably pretty prejudiced, told me, "Chris, I don't have a prejudiced bone in my body, the military is the most color blind institution in the world, when your lives depend on each other, you don't notice color.

I hope we meet some time, you said you were the most arch conservative on the site, I admit I voted for Jimmy Carter at 18, my friends dad was the local Democrat committeeman, took us all down and registered us as good democrats, by next election I was a Republican, before 30 I registered Conservative, which I am to this day. On top of that, I always thought we needed a businessman, voted for Ross Perot both times. So I have pretty good credentials.

But whenever express my dislike for a certain currently elected representative, immediately I get called a Liberal, LOL. It's nothing to do with party or politics at all, I can't believe good decent people can consider that kind of behavior and speech acceptable, let alone great. I understand the lesser of two evils, which I think he was, but the cheering and support, I'm truly at a loss. Our side vs their side trumps everything.

2024- Ted Nugent Versus Kayne West, I can see it now.

And always remember, other than mathematics, it's mostly all opinions, everyone has their reasons for what they believe, they aren't necessarily wrong, nor are you.
