It does depend on what bike you’ve got, Japanese ****** rockets and twist’n’ go scooters especially. But in some areas of the U.K. bike theft is at epidemic levels! A friend who lives in London, has to have so much security on his bike at home it’s almost ridiculous!

The insurance here in the U.K. doesn’t tend to go on class of bike, more on the capacity and where you live. If you live in a City, like London Birmingham etc. You can expect to pay a premium, because bike theft being prevalent there and **** drivers!

    Am I crazy!!

Many years ago, the late Barry Sheene took his works Suzuki RG500 to an RAF base for some promotional photos etc. One of the pilots also did a bit of production racing, so Suzuki let him take the RG up the runway. I’ll never forget the pilots description of riding it…..he equated it to flying a...

Things I've noticed riding in the cold.

I vaguely seem to remember, didn’t Honda brake and clutch levers used to be supplied plastic covered? I know the ball ends had a plastic covering, but I’ve got a recollection of the controls having a clear plastic coating.

Here in the U.K. Third party insurance is the minimum required by law, ie no insurance your not allowed on the road! Plus we have to pay a road tax for the privilege of riding on increasingly pot holed roads. Depending on your insurance company, the more security devices fitted, you do get a...

I used to do TPF&T , but because the price of today bikes and the standard of car drivers, I went Fully Comp. As an after thought who remembers the monopoly Norwich Union had in the Republic of Ireland in the 80’s and early 90’s. The sneaky barstewards had signed a deal with the Irish...

I don’t know what it’s like in other countries, but as Jagster and Steff will testify to age/experience is the main problem. Followed by where you live in the country, big Cities being the worst. One of my Army mates lives in Brent, a suburb of NW inner London. He’s got a top of the range...

I’m in the U.K., but I’m the same when it comes to gloves, can’t stand thick gloves when I’m riding! So I use truckers roping gloves, they have a leather draw string across the back, to stop them being pulled off. The only other gloves I’ve got are large workshop gloves I put over the top if...

I’ve seen pictures of all four and in my opinion they need to carry on building the Commando, just to subsidise the loss those others are going to make. The Manx R don’t look to bad, but the naked ones look abysmal! Well that’s my opinion for what it’s worth.

If I’m right, that’s an Australian’s special, I lived down under in the 90’s. Drysdale built one using a pair of FZR400 top ends, but this is a 1000, so I wonder what he’s used this time.

No spray gun, it’s all acrylic aerosol cans. Best tip I was given a couple of years ago, warm the can up in warm water, shake the can and warm it up again.

Tank for my A65 95% finished, just need to let lacquer go hard for a couple of weeks, give it a good TCut, apply the BSA decals and polish with proper wax polish. My application for a U.K. age related registration is away with our registration authority the DVLA, anything up to 6 weeks to get back.

    Metzler Cruisetec vs. Avon Cobras

Apparently AVON are turning up at the Italian Motorcycle Show this weekend. They are back in the Goodyear stable and have a new look…..what ever that means.
