Agreeing on the heat, I ended up having to wrap my headers as my leg was burning even when riding. I had placed forward controls which did take my leg closer to the headers but even when stationery at lights my leg was getting burnt. A lot of wrap and it's fine but preference would be no wrap...
My father-in-law bought a Rocket 3 and my Mother-in-law bought an Indian Classic. Both very nice bikes and suitability is relevant to the person. However, I think my first sentence kind of resolves your dilema! (drops mic...and exit's stage left) :p
Hi all,
I have been working long and hard on my custom Rocket III project and to take a 2004 Rocket and turn it into something very different and unique. Check it out here (press ctrl at the same time as clicking so it doesnt lose this page for you)
Hello from New Zealand - 2004 Rocket III -...
Thanks for that...I bought a universal Motorcycle specific 3 pin relay for the Rocket today and it was a 2 minute plug and play and works perfectly.
I will also post some pictures of the indicator mounts I made utilising the original fitting points on the front forks for the bike. I personally...
Update...Rides amazingly well with the new bars. I had them custom fitted to my frame so IMO the whole bike is now much better handling and more comfortable.
I do need some help with my LED indicators and what resistor or relay I need to fit. Any ideas would be great!
That's incredibly kind Phil, I can't take the credit as the amazing guys at Kolorinn Kustoms in Auckland did the design and paint.
Thanks for the feedback Phil. The headers have already been customed, I wrapped them for now as the engineer let me down and didn't put any heatshields on. The...
Upload of some pics done...re the F6B - It's actually an awesome bike, admit the looks are a bit bizarre but an unbelievably great bike to ride. I have owned over a hundred bikes and the F6B is certainly the best long distance comfort tourer I have owned. :cautious::cautious:
Here is the project so far...still a bit to do with Lights, Exhaust/Muffler, tyres, grips, seat and side mount number plate bracket.
Styling and design not for everyone but in the flesh it looks badass!
Hello all that follow this today, tomorrow or even years from now.
This is my low kilometre 2004 Rocket 3. It has had a bit of surface rust from previous owner not looking after her (scumbag) and now she is in my care I am going to transfer her into something a little different. I wanted to...
Hi all,
I have started the strip down of the bike and I thought I would post a few pics so people can see I am not butchering a good bike but restoring my machine with some intimate touches.
The bike is pretty rough from being left outside and NZ does not put salt on it's roads so much of...
Hey mate, I'm kind of predominantly after the look and for short rides out. I have a few bikes so it's a project to play around with and to make it a bit unique. I certainly hear you about ruining it, and i'm not going to jump in and start cutting without a clear plan. I am pulling it apart now...
Now you have the opportunity to take the path of travel that the Rocket 3 can't...off road and adventure! Safe travels, "life is an attitude" as my mother in law would say. Looking forward to seeing some of your new adventures posted on here :-)
Hey mate, yes it does look like that from the photo but the paint is dull, the chrome is pitted and there are dents in the front fender from something being dropped on it. I hear you about getting some used and older stuff to play with and I'll do that with the rear but the front needs replacing...
