I've noticed with the Rocket.....

A lot of people compliment it more than any other bike I have ridden, even Harley guys. I've always rode Hondas and I think people tend to look down on the hondas a lot more.

Mind you in my area you almost never see any kind of Triumph of any kind. I noticed too, I get a lot of old timers telling me how they used to have a triumph back in the day so I think them seeing it really brings back memories for them possibly.

I've also noticed mostly from guys on cruisers that they give my bike a good long look, I think trying to figure out what it is as we pass one another. Especially when I had the forward controls on since thats not the typical sports bike foot position.

With the Hondas you will hear people say its "jap crap". I'd be hard pressed to say I've ever heard anything negitive said about triumph. Just seems odd since foreign is foreign in my book and being in the motor city you have a ton of people that believe in American built only cars and bikes, even guys that dont ride have this openion. Makes me wonder why they are so accepting of the british made bikes over others.

My advice would be not to give af.

When you're told "it's Jap Crap" just reply, hmmm, maybe, but how come this 'crap' can out accelerate, out brake, out corner yours while getting better fuel milage as well? What does that make yours, if a pile of "crap" is better in every measurable way

Exactly! Why give a crap who likes and doesn’t like your bike? If someone says something nice about my Rocket I’ll reply accordingly. I haven’t yet heard a negative word from anyone but if they did I couldn’t care less. When they pay my bills and take care of my family I may listen. They don’t so I won’t. Remember, in today’s turbulent society there will always be jealousy and haters. You own a Rocket so you’re on top of the food chain

Funny. Yeah, have never been so popular! Also meet a lot of older fellows who want to strike up a Triumph-of-old conversation, which is fun.

About the same number of motorcyclists of all stripes, “**** that thing looks good. Have never seen one in the flesh. Is it a 6-cylinder?”
If I offer that it’s really a 3-cylinder, if silly-big cylinders - about half try to tell me I’m mistaken, as they point at the air intake cover. Shrug.

The phrase 'Jap-Cr@p' is over half a century old.
I would suggest that the folk that use that term are somewhat stuck in the past......a long way in the past.
Kinda makes them appear stupid, if you ask me.

It's not the reason we buy them but it is kind of fun the looks and interactions that happen. I especially like it when it's Harley person and you can tell they'd really like to see what it's like to ride a Rocket, but you can also see the resignation in their eyes that they know they never will because it just wouldn't fly with the "culture" they are a part of, and the people they ride with. I always think of that Southpark episode when it happens.

I definitely have gotten a fair amount of complements on my Rocket, even when stopped at an intersection. I’d say overall my Indian Scout has received far more, but I have had it longer and I have a custom paint job which makes it more unique. Compliments are nice, but at the end of the day is about the riding experience for ourselves.

Yea is it a 6 cylinder is the nunber one question I get. Had a guy at a gas station walking around looking at it for literally 5 minutes while I was eating my lunch at a table. It definitely has a good look.

I'm waiting for Allen Millyard to make a V-6 rocket. But I guess it would be pretty similar to a boss hoss. A heavy load.
