I can confirm this - Today I dropped off my Indian Chief for a dyno tune at Mickey Cohen Motorsport (Mickey is a triumph expert, but works other makes as well) he told me exactly this as well. BTW, he says he can tune the new Rockets now.
I have have the exact same problem with FOB detection. Replacing the battery didn't help. Someone told me to put the FOB in my left pocket (which is closer to the detector on the bike) which helped it somewhat, but the issue still happens from time to time. Seems like a design problem to me -...
Can you give a link to your USB power adapter? Does it interface with the stock power port, or did it require the fitting of the auxiliary power adapter? (which has been back-ordered since I purchased my GT back in January.)

My wife hasn’t ridden on the back of my GT yet. She has ridden it, however. She says it is one of the easiest bikes to ride - not as scary as she thought.
My GT moves my old, fat ass around in more comfort than the R would've. I'm 6'2" and 280lbs, pegs all the way forward. With a tail bag and tank bag, overnight trips are not only comfortable, but thrilling. My pannier mount kits are on backorder.
The steering lock is only actuated by electric servo when the bike is not running, but it will only engage mechanically if the front wheel is turned all the way to the left. So unless you are doing a U-turn when it fails, I think we're gunna be okay.
I've been riding the GT every day now for about 3 weeks straight. Never owned a bike w/hydraulic clutch until this one. Now that I'm getting used to it, I much prefer it to the cable clutch on my Indian Chief and my old Rocket. It is so much faster (and easier) to pull it is almost like speed...
