  1. The BEAST is Back

I am not into carbon, but the bike is very nice. I especially like the not-so cruiser look.
  2. Green Light Trigger

It sounds like a magnet. I use a strong rare earth magnet on my bike oil filters and don't have issues triggering magnetic strips at lights. It also traps a good bit of metallic particles in the filter. Side note: I had a friend that had a bright blue LED light he used to trigger stoplights...
  3. Interesting Oil Test

Interesting, this one is unknown to me and their website doesn't have much info. I will call and talk with them today and report back.
  4. Interesting Oil Test

Nev, It is looking more and more like Motul 300v 10w-40 and Shell Rotela "Synthetic" 5w-40 will be the other oils included in the test, but Silkolene Pro 4 is running a close third. There are still a few more days for them to make the decision - voting ends late next week. The oils they are...
  5. Interesting Oil Test

Actually Royal doesn't do so hot - good power numbers, but poor protection. Gonna share your "exstewnsive oil resurch"?
  6. Interesting Oil Test

Pig, Actually I am putting together a dyno test of various MC specific oils and will include a 3000 mile road test with oil analysis on the top two performing oils. AliSyn, Brad Penn, Royal Purple, Amsoil, and Mobile 1 will all be included using 10w-40 weights. Plus I am letting another forum...

Have you checked out the weight of the new V-Max. It's not much lighter than an R3. It isn't all bout having the fastest bike available. Sometimes it is just about having something different.
  9. Crux of the Biscuit

Watch to see if peak boost drops.
  10. Pasta Rockets by Harley?

I can think of a couple of reasons for HD to purchase MV and the included debt. It could give HD a bit of protection from US currency issues while using some cash. It could give Buell a technology infusion and good engine. Combining MV designs with HD production and you could give the Jap...
  11. Pasta Rockets by Harley?

It seems that HD may be looking into buying MV Agusta - including Caviga. Harley-Davidson to buy MV Agusta? - Motorcycle News
  12. Decel popping or steady throttle popping, tuneboy

BINGO! The lean condition is a result of Triumph being forced to meet given emissions regulations. A lot of newer bikes do this, and it will become more and more common. It will get worse in warmer weather. It can be fixed at the dealership, but they will richen the entire curve, not just...
  13. Crux of the Biscuit

Most of that is good info, but really pertains to symmetrical lobe designs. Generally speaking, widening the lobe centers widens the power band, but reduces the peak. The opposite happens when you narrow the lobe centers. Advancing both cams helps low end, and retarding them helps higher rpm...
  14. New Yamaha V-Max

2009 Star Motorcycles VMax - First Look - MotorcycleUSA.com "The VMax has already achieved iconic status. The 2009 VMax will only consolidate its legend. If you like what you see, you'd better act fast, because the bike is a limited edition. Star Motorcycles is only making 2500 of the 2009...
  15. Kola Nuts

Got any specs for those un-kola nuts? I am fermenting the idea of having some custom un-kola nuts ground for a particular brew. With the right treatment, the taste could be just right.
