  1. Problem with left hand clock (speedo etc)

Cheers xhdskip. Anyway, I've picked my good old Dad's brains on this one. He trained as a car mechanic in the early 1950's and cheerfully admits to not exactly being up to date with new fangled things like electrics! His old-skool suggestion was to prod / poke / jiggle / disconnect and...
  2. Problem with left hand clock (speedo etc)

Hi All, Old member here (in more ways than one!) who hasn't been around for a while for all sorts of reasons, including, but not limited to: divorce, m/bike accident, cycle accident, redundancy... Anyway, my sadly neglected R3 ('06 'normal' model) was dusted off and taken for a run today, the...
  3. Explain this, then.

A few years ago I bought a car that had been owned by an old guy who had only ever used it for commuting around town. He'd had it from new so the car had never ever been anything like thrashed. The first time I took it down the motorway for a spirited drive it caught fire  I noticed...
  4. exhaust help

I re-used all the seals but had to add a bit of this as well :)
  5. exhaust help

Initially just fit and run. My "seat of the pants" dyno suggested a slightly better mid range response. I bought a tune-boy a few months later and have now loaded the specific tune for the cat removal with standard pipes.
  6. exhaust help

Cat bypass and stock pipes for me as well. Sounds about right IMO - definitely louder than standard but not enough to upset the neighbours. I have the bypass that's sold on ebay, on the basis that it was cheaper than the Triumph one - been on nearly 2 years / 10,000 miles and it's fine.
  7. Sissy Bar Swap UK

I've got a spare short sissy bar for sale (sorry, not really interested in a swap). Couple of photos here: http://simonr.fotopic.net/c401261.html Good condition, bar only (no fixings or pad). Union flag sticker isn't covering any scratches and should come off if you don't like it. Say...
  8. My quest for the perfect seat

I do a bit of cycling, and it's generally accepted in the cycling world that soft seats are less comfy than hard seats for longer rides. The theory is that you quickly compress any padding and get "stuck" in one position on a soft seat. On a hard seat you get used to it fairly quickly, and...
  9. A newbie asks

Bit of a kerfuffle about that on the UK owners site :) http://r111.proboards79.com/index.cgi?b ... 1179438551 You may need to join to read the thread.
  10. Rear Shock Mount Bolt Size?

Are the bolts that hold the rear shocks on 1/2"? I assumed all the bolts on the R3 would be metric, but a 13mm socket seems a bit loose, a 12mm won't go on, and a 1/2" fits perfectly.
  11. Narrower Rear Tyre?

So no-one's tried it then? What would work? Anyone looked into it seriously?
  12. Power limiter?

Tuneboy makes a noticeable difference at the traffic light GP. Try it...you don't have to use the power, but it's nice to have it when you want it :D
  13. Narrower Rear Tyre?

Anyone tried fitting a narrower rear tyre to sharpen up the handling?
  14. TOR/CAT removal Combinations

Not a full answer to your question, but IMO the cat bypass and standard pipes will give you that - that's my set-up. Triumph tune is available for this combination. More horsepower? Don't know - nothing spectacular, but throttle response is a bit sharper I think. Other points in favour...
  15. probably FAQ's but here goes

Doesn't look as if they do a R3 specific belly pan, but I wonder if these people might be able to modify the ones they do make? http://www.triumphparts.gbr.cc/70000/info.php?p=1&pno=0
