Whats so bad about the PCIII comppared with T/Boy?

My one and only dyno tuner doesnt sound too keen on T/Boy.He prefers Power Commander.Whats the big advantage of T/Boy over the PCIII?

Is it really worth the effort of paying more to get the bike tuned with T/Boy ,considering the fella doing it ,can do it with T/Boy but hates it , and has warned it will cost a lot more at AUD$100.00 per hour ?
 
You can tweak it better with Tuneboy. If you want to perfect your power band and eliminate decel pop . . . Tuneboy can do it to perfection . . if your tuner knows what he's doing.

PC's are a piggy back system with less features, whereas Tuneboy completely rewrites the ECM.

There are those that have had great success using the PC's, but more prefer the Tuneboy program because of it's flexibility and control.
 
You can have the bike dynoed with a pcIII and then emulate the pcIII map onto the current map in the ecu with tuneboy. When you do this you then disconnect the pcIII module and set your rev limit and max speed limit with TB. If a shop was tuning r3's on a regular basis it seems it would be beneficial for them to have a pcIII module to use on r3's for a "small" fee.

I plan on havign you do my bike, just waiting on the other options we discussed, but youve impressed me so far with your knowledge in all the questions you've answered on the various sites.
 
Thanks for the input fellas .So , the 'operator' said he would use T/Boy but it will cost me more.After what you say, that is perhaps still the option.Is it really that hard to fiddle with T/Boy yourself once you have been set up on the Dyno or is it a case of once the money is spent on the original tune set up , its there for keeps and you can leave it alone?

Owl's comments about T/Boy dont enthuse me with confidence regarding confrontiing the software .I share your concern , Owl! :shock:
A walk through would be handy , wouldn't it?.

I have been trained to use Auto cad , so I am not a complete IT dill ,but get concerned i might end up in a lot of down time for the 'Hippo', whilst learning T/Boy.
 
Im happy with my pc111.In the uk its what the dyno man near me uses so thats what i got.Tune boy seems to complicated for me.
 
I would agree with what's been said . . . PCIII seems to be the easy approach to more performance and dyno tuning.

I like the TuneBoy because of it's ability to tweak the R3 and remove factory limitations . . . I think I've got it on the right track because it scares the mechanics at the dealer when they test ride it. :lol: :twisted:
 
I have been looking for Native One to jump in on this. N1 has Jards, a PC3 and GiPro and his Rocket runs out like the proverbial scalded ape, not to mention that it looks bad to the bone. I sold my TuneBoy in favor of the PCIII after discussing the options with him. There are guys like Bluemarlin, Juggs, Sam and Doc Martin and others, l who are obviously very comfortable and proficient with the TB.

I just decided that it was a bit more than I wanted to take on and that I could achieve the level of performance enhancement I wanted with the PCIII and GiPro, albeit at a higher cost.
