Nigel passed away last week at the age of 77. His funeral was Monday just gone at Carbrook. Anyone who followed speedway would've heard of Nigel. He was a pom who decided to call Cleveland home for the last 40 years of his life. Nigel rode speedway professionally in England for the Coventry Bees team for 17 years. He competed in 8 world championships. He would bring out young English riders every year. Billet them out with Aussie riders and run a speedway meeting at Nudgee flat track for them to get a taste of competing internationally. His grandson Karl and my son Kane went to school together. They spent a lot of time at Nigel and Cynthia's. Nigel was a fair dinkum good bloke.
