I'm having a problem with my 2009 R3T.

When I'm trying to hold a steady, low speed in first, second or third, the fuel delivery system seems to "hunt" around quite a bit, for lack of a better term. Instead of maintaining an even speed, the bike surges, then lags, then repeats for three or four cycles. The problem is, of course, that it doesn't do it every time. It's very disconcerting and, when it happens in a low speed corner, it becomes more entertaining that I bargained for. I have a steady throttle hand - so I don't think I'm causing the surging. It's so noticeable, it can be heard from the curb as I ride by.

It never occurs in 4th or 5th gears.

Anyone know what could be causing this? Is it a commonly reported problem?

The bike is mechanically dead stock. I bought it as a leftover with 2 miles on the odometer. I now have nearly 5,000.

Other than this problem - the bike runs great, though the mileage is not what I'd have hoped.

Thanks for any insights you can provide.

The secondary butterflies are active in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and may be the cause of your issue. Once I opened them up to 100% in all gears, my bike smoothed out a lot at low speeds.

Also, the crankcase sensor may have some goop on it that needs to be cleaned.

my 2c.
