George - last year I bought a TPMS. Very similar if not identical to the fixed one.
I had HUGE issues getting a signal from the rear wheel to the receiver. Had the receiver on the top of the tank. It would pick up a signal from a transmitter fitted to the front rim - but not the rear. I swapped the transmitters over to test.
But anything fitted the rear would only connect if the bike was in the garage. Out on the road - nothing. The issue is it leads you to believe nothing is changing as it just keeps showing the last measured values.
The R3 rim is wide - it's shielded behind wide metal sheet work and exhausts - plus in my case side case frames - basically a Faraday Cage.
