tach arrived!

...the tach arived....the outter box is damaged, and some items inside the inner clear-plastic (shelf-display) box are rolling around, but it looks functional....will try to get it evaluated and hooked up and checked for functionality this week....

....pix later....

...if it works as advertised, i'll start working on the custom mount immediately....plan to mount it on the handle bars between the bar-mounts on top of the fork tree....

tach

Looking forward to your report.
Thanks for offering to take pictures.

he's still in the garage trying to get it to work!:D
Waterproofing it shouldnt be a problem either. You can seal it enough to not take in moisture but not to tight as to keep in moisture.

I'm back....!

Sorry for the delay, everybody....I have not left the planet, but I have been unavailable. Not a guest of the local constabulary, not in a war zone, not in Egypt or Libya, but not available, either...

Okay...will start on the tach adaptation this week...have to start over on the drawings for the handlebar-mount, but I will use the next couple of evenings to verify functionality of the tach...it was in the garage when I last saw it...(in JANUARY?!?!?)

geez....:(

Just seen this - if you have no luck - try one from KOSO. I've been playing with one of their speedos recently - waterproof. And cheap.

tachs....again....

ok....so the first tach was inop....2nd tach came in and works as advertised....have finished the drawings and I am having a new housing machined out of a block of 4x4x4 inch billet aluminum, with a screw-on bezel and custom handlebar-clamp back piece; the stock housing is a cheap and lightweight tin with a twist-lock plastic bezel and couldn't find a decent-looking way to adapt the included bracket to the handlebars......

...will have to cut the wires, especially the shift indicator lamp, in order to fit 'em thru the smaller hole in the rear of the housing, and 'boot' em with a rubber grommet; then, solder-splice the wires back together and wire it in....

...if the machining is not too expensive, I may make a few extra, if others are interested....will supply pix when the unit gets back from the machine shop....

MJ: How did this work out? Were you able to make your mounting system work? Do you have photos?

Barbagris: How did your KOSO endeavor work out for you?
