When I bought the Rocket I vowed never to work on it, as I wrench a little on my old bikes and had no desire for another project bike. Now I need to pull some plugs and look at some things, so I went to the dealer and picked up a set of fresh plugs to have them in case. I was shocked that instead of the 6-8 dollars for some fancy iridium or at least platinum plugs I was charged 1.50 for plain old steel plugs with the fat old center electrode. I questioned this, and the parts guy says these came from Parts Unlimited, but are absolutely the correct plug. Hmm...

My question is, have any of you pulled out THE STOCK PLUGS, and were they old style or the new Platinum or Iridium plugs with the skinny center electrode?

In my ««upgrade kit»» triumph have upgraded all six cable and the sparks plug
NGK DPR8EA-9 standart to DPR9EA-9 standart but hotter NGK sparks plug

On my first rocket i was at 30000 miles with my first set and did not need to change them still looking good

Yeah. the stock plugs are nothing special. I tried the fancy iridiums once and really didn't notice an improvement in anything. They might even have better chance of fouling because of their skinny little electrodes. I'm sure they last longer otherwise, but not really worth the extra cost if you ask me.
