All:
We have lurked here for several months, garnering info and enjoying the characters. We purchased our '08 Rocket III May 11 after riding a '99 Valkyrie for four years and some 25K miles. So far (1kmiles) we are very pleased with the Rocket. We intend to post a few photos in the album section as time permits. Here is one, taken on a recent outting:

The bike is stock. We will likely add a few chrome bits here and there, but have not much interest in performance mods. We think the Beast makes highway speed just fine as she is.

We reside in central (Ellis County) Texas, a few miles south of DFW. It's hot here just now.

56 years old, we are; and married with grown children. Mama tolerates our riding but cares not to participate. Our "together" toy is a Mazda MX-5 roadster. Mostly day rides for us and the Rocket. We have little interest in riding to Sturgis, but down to Waco is fun.

Other hobbies include firearms, running (at our age it is more of a canter) and weight lifting (the old joints complain more and more), and occasional golf.

One other thing: We tend to be flatulent.

Thanks for having us here. We look forward to regular visits.

We trudge on.

I know Texas is a big state and all .... but there are more R3's there than anywhere!

Welcome

Hi and welcome to the site :) it seems that in most Rocket owners bike history
there's a Valkyrie..i have fond memories of mine
Glad to have you with us

Welcome! I rode today with my bud who lives in Midlothian. He is also a rocket owner. I'm 60 miles west of Waco and go there quite often. We just got back from a 3700 mile two week trip with my bud and his wife mentioned above. Enjoy the Rocket and head out towards Hico sometime, lots of great riding. And I can now say that I've been to Strugis, just not during the event...not much of a town. In fact, if not for the rally I doubt it would be there.

Sorry to learn of your gas problem, but seeing as you will prolly be in the wind more than you were with your Valk, it shouldn't be that much of a problem.;)

Welcome from NJ, trudge!

Welcome to the site, hope you enjoy the beast...it does go fast enough stock for most of us.

As for the Texas bragging rights of most Rocket owners, till I sold mine in April and Daryl sold his in January I think we had more Rockets in the 3 most western counties of North West Florida than all of Texas combined...at best it may now be a tie:p.

Then again I know a lot of Rocket owners that bought at D&D Cycles don't even frequent this site and it may be the same way in Texas so we may never know.

Sorry guys.

Dennis
