New Corbin seat effecting how the bike runs?

I finally received my new used Corbin touring seat and installed it on the bike. I noticed when I removed the factory seat that it sealed over the air filter under the seat and had vents out each side. I installed the seat and went for a test ride. I think I'm really going to like it BUT!! While on my little ride I pulled the clutch in and revved the motor to scare a dog away and the motor coughed thru the air filter under the seat. This is the first time this has happened in the 2 months that I have owed the bike. So as I was riding I repeated this a couple more times and it seems that the bike now has a cough or something like it with the new seat.
I have the Jardines and the bike has been remapped at the dealer for them.
Does the new Corbin effect the air flow and is it going to require a new program to allow for the lesser amount of air or am I all wet in my thinking??
I have seen several bikes own here that have this same seat. Wondering if anybody has had the same thing happen with an after market seat??

Ok makes sense. Can you point me in the right direction for a under seat filter. Does it have to have a new housing or does the filter come with its own housing. I have seen the triple K&N's on ebay. Will they fit under the chrome housing or do you have to remove it. I have seen some of the bikes on here that have the filters exposed and I was wondering what they do in the rain.
I guess sense you install the K&N's you need to remap to compensate for more air flow, also.
Or I can sale the Corbin and order the touring seat they are selling on ebay with the back rest for like 465.00. What do you think??

The only thing you should be missing when swapping out seats is the snorkle that attaches to the stock seat. The air filter box still has the screen on top to protect it and as long as the filter is installed you won't damage your engine. Do you have a K&N replacement filter already installed under the seat? If you have Jars you'd want to get the 3 pod filters, I'm not crazy about the under tank filter because of excess heat from the engine. If I ever go with the pod filters and get a Tuneboy I am going to cut and mod up my bearclaw to allow extra cool air to get to the filters. I had a Corbin seat with drop in K&N and TORS and no cat with no problems. I still have the same setup except now I have a custom seat and still no problems with air flow. Sorry you're having issues, I hate when that happens, you get all excited about a new mod and install it and something else gets buggered up. Good luck with it.

I installed a Corbin seat and have noticed no change in performance or running condition.

If you've noticed there should be some clearance between the seat and the side covers and if you look under the seat, there is so much room under there and alot of air does get around the rear fender and battery box. I was afraid of the same thing when I got my new custom seat installed because the seat builder sealed the seat right up against the side covers so the only airflow I get now is from around the battery box and rear fender and I have no problems with the way my bike runs. Try getting it to cough while working the throttle with the seat off. Are you sure you didn't bump the TPS or something? Just for the heck of it have your dealer check your TPS adjustment, mine was off and it made a big difference in the way the bike runs. I would at least get an underseat K&N and seal it with a little dab of grease around the filter's rubber sealing areas. Every time I change my oil I remove my air filter and tap the dirt out of it and reseal it with some fresh grease, I find alot of sand and debrie around those areas. I take it you don't have a TuneBoy. That may be a good thing to do as well. There is a group buy on them coming up in the RAT forum. There will be a thread here too I'm sure.

Triple K&N's WILL easily fit under the bearclaw, if you have no desire to modify.. Its a bit tight bolting it back on, but it goes.Ive cut the bearclaw on mine to show the filters, but fitted 2 of my mates bikes with K&Ns with unaltered claw reattached. (Foam filters obviously fit more easily, as an alternative)

Could you post a picture of your cut down bearclaw with the K&Ns?
