My coolant woes persist:

1) Sliced open front hose - fix, replaced (2014)

2) Dumping coolant thru vent hose - fix, new radiator cap (2015)

3) Now, came home from a great ride yesterday to see coolant spraying from the right side (sitting on the bike) lower elbow joint/hose:

I removed the hose and cut off about 1/3", replaced and clamped down. Added some coolant and leak still there. The hole is in the actual metal on the corner of the elbow joint and the whole joint is corroding:

Can this be fixed by a welder, or do I need to replace the radiator?

All suggestions/help appreciated --

Thanks,

Any competent radiator shop should be able to diagnose and repair it.
That radiator costs a fortune, if I recall.

Brand new radiator cost $650 incl. tax. Picked up a used one off of a '05 with 25K for half that.

So, when mine is fixed I'll have one to sell if anyone is interested --

You may want to investigate WHY that connection corroded through. Normal operation and routine maintenance should not cause that to occur. Also I would recommend you add a dollop of Locktite to the solo bolt on the coolant line pipe from the engine. Mine backed out causing a rapid loss of coolant (fortunately it occurred while it was on the dyno and not on the road).

I suspect it's because I'm in Chicago and ride in winter, salt everywhere - 85K and probably never really cleaned around that joint.

That's my guess, but not sure how I can confirm that. Any ideas, Atomsplitter?

Btw, are you talking about the bleed screw (above the thermostat) backing out? If so, never had a problem
