I just traded my 03 Sprint ST for an 08 R3C. So far the thing I'm intrigued with the most is the Darkside. I've only 1000mi on the Rock but have already found a place that has no issues with mounting a car tire on a motorcycle rim.

go for it quick, before they change their minds. I just got a new metz installed at the dealer a couple months ago, $330. and even though I got over 10,000 miles on the last one, this one went down at a little over 2,500 miles. It ain't wore out mind you, it just looses air pressure. Can't find a leak, tried soap around the rim and on the tire itself, ( thought maybe it was a pin hole I couldn't see) nothing, its as if tire gremlins are letting air out in the middle of the night. I'm definetly gonna go dark next time. I'm wonderin about the front, what are you dark siders running on the front, please don't tell me a metz..;)

Skip,
I puchased the Cherry Red/New England White. I know, it's the slower color. ;)
The reason I bought the Classic over the Touring was I wanted all the horses. The reduced HP didn't seem like a good trade off for the little extra torque that you gain. Besides that, I'm not ready to get that much of an old guy bike.

Joe, good enough reason. yea, and I wasn't even gonna make a comment on the red color thang:rolleyes:. Ok maybe I would have:D. Red and white, red and black, I'll tell you a little secret though, shhhh, I'm thinkin of maybe puttin a red and gold pinstripe on my black on black. Nothin definite ya understand, just thinkin bout it. Not sure if I want to go that slow, heck, I could just get on the harley I guess. Maybe I should just go with a white pin stripe, I don't know, decisions, decisions. why couldn't it be as simple as who to vote for..

Skip I have 12,000 miles on my front metz. while running a darkside rear. Everyone thinks it wears faster but I am not going to complain. I keep it blown up hard (41 psi) and it has 4-5k left in it. I'll will replace it with another metz when the time comes:)

Good to see a new member join right in and ask the hard questions. We haven't heard how the venerable Avon Cobra does on the front but I would bet to guess that it holds the pavement better than a Metz. I talked to a guy who swears by Pirelli on sports bikes but who has one on a rocket? I had that nasty tire gremlin in ES, did the soap thing twice and nothing showed but when you rode, it lost air. Yes I know mr. tire gremlin very well. Even struck my dark tire.:mad:So mr. tire gremlin met mr. Ride-On and have lived happly ever after.:D

Welcome Joe!

This bunch is a little twisted and soon will be putting Tiger Paws on the front. And who needs brakes anyway...
