The Boss is amazing in three areas.
1. You can NEVER stop anywhere without a conversation and a million questions being engendered..
2.On an open freeway the power (with the stroker motor) is just unrelenting and seems to have no end. 70 mph = 2000 rpm.
3. It is THE most fun bike to work on because of the FANTASTIC number of aftermarket upgrades available for the GM small block motor. Every Hot Rod magazine and aftermaket supplier caters to these motors because they are the quintessential hot rod engines. My build specs gave me 480 hp, 500 lbs. torque but of course there are many, many wilder builds including superchargers, etc. That motor is the "Barbie Doll" of engines. Some guys put 607 ci all aluminum Donovan racing engines in them. Stamford Boss Hoss has a blown 607 with 1195 dyno hp., hundreds of hand made one-off parts. Wants $100,000 for it and I've seen some that are asking 125-150K for their customs.
Just stay out of the twisties for sure because its lack of handling will not only be embarrasing but dangerous, at times. Very easy to get into trouble very quickly!
Now that I have the R3 into Carpenter for the 240 buid, I know I will get the same highway rush and still have the option of some of the great hilly, twistie rides with my son in northern NJ.
Interesting commentary Re; The Boss and R3.
