With Geico, my Rocket's annual full insurance coverage is $384.00. However I am carrying more in the policy ($300,000 liability/injury; and with uninsured motorist coverage as well) than the minimum coverage required by Maryland.

Same policy coverages for my Victory Vision ($584.00) and my Suzuki DR650 ($317.00) :???: No rhyme or reason to the dollar amounts -vs- cubic inches or style of bike in my case...

Mine is $450.. anually, and its not Progressive. Someone here said insuring a touring is cheaper than a sport bike and they are right. Age has something to do with it and so does years experience or riders course makes a difference.

A 383 ci Eagle stroker motor, Airflow Research Heads, Comp cam, Sanderson headers, Crane roller rockers, Mallory fully electronic ignition and a billion custom made parts and factory upgrades. Every nut and bolt was repaced with high grade SS items as well. also..all waterproof cnnectors and a Blue Seas waterproof fus box.
I built the motor based upon a hot rod mags dyno figures for this motor which was 480 HP and 500 Lbs. torque. I never did dyno it, however because no one I knew had a motorcycle dyno that could accommodate the enormous wheelbase!
When you opened up the 4 barrel on that Edelbrock Quadrajet you felt like you almost could not hold on...like all hell broke loose. It was a 2 speed auto with reverse and you could take 1st to 110 mph! Off the line you would just smoke the tire because of its 1200 lb. weight but crack the throttle in 1st at speed (passing on a two lane was fabulous) and I don't believe ANYTHING would touch it! I could even smoke the tire at 60 mph in 1st!! Never a possibility for a wheelie because of the enormous front biased weight of a V8 engine.
Just sold for a about 20% of what I had in it.
You just cannot ever get paid for the great custom work you do.

some scooter. what was it like in terms of poke, brakes and handling compared to your rocket?

I don't know what you mean by "poke" but the handling was horrible! Impossible to lean because of how far out the footpegs had to be to accommodate that giant engine. I have a son with a 100" Sportster with whom I ride at times and I could never stay with him in the twisties. This is why I bought the R3 and have never regretted it. Brakes on the Boss were fair and not nearly as good as the Triumph.
It did, however, instill me with a lust for more power from the rocket and as we write, Carpenter Racing has my R3 for the 240 build. The stock R3 could NOT BEGIN to stay with the Boss in a roll-on.

i can imagine so, few decent vids of them but one i saw was a 70mph rollon vs a big ninja iirc, side by side etc but the hoss pulled away sharp at 120mph or so.
also the word on the street was they were faster from 60-120 than 0-60 due to rear tyre burning up.
oh and by "poke" i meant what was it like to go :lol:

The bike was UNBELIEVABLE at speed on the interstates and I think you can imagine 480 HP and 500 lbs. torque once the weight got rolling. Jeez...I still don't know what "poke" means so please explain further.
The bike was as reliable as a stone BUT you must understand the incredible money I spent on upgrades to make it so....probably in excess of $50,000 above the initial cost of $30,000.
I had the bike 12 years and I do miss the mystique and outrageousness of it! Conversations at every turn. Handling it in a parking lot became difficult as I've aged and the R3 feels like a lean mean machine in comparison.

when people comment on the 2.3ltr engine size i just say yep it has a bit of poke alright ;-)
