For the past several weeks I have noticed my neutral light working intermittently. When I parked in the garage last evening it was actually blinking when the bike was placed in neutral. Thinking either a short or bad connection I checked the wire connector ends first. It is behind the cover where the cigarette lighter hole is located on the left side of the bike. The connection was good, although there was no di-electric grease on the mating ends. Next I pulled the shift sensor on the rear of the motor. (Two bolts and an o-ring.) The darn thing was filthy. I cleaned the contact areas of the switch and motor plug in with WD40 and a clean cloth. Applied a light coat of di-eclectic grease and bingo, the light is back to normal. Just FYI in case anyone else is having this problem.

Brit, There is a TSB on this if Im not mistaken. Several captains have had theres replaced under warranty because it has proved to be a faulty sensor. I thought this was just on the R3T but could apply to all models

Weeding through the jargon

There are many instances when a problem and resolution are posted immediately. These should be encapsulated. Great post!!!
