I have new r3t I like it but i wish it had the same performance as my old rocket .What can i do with in reason say 1000 to 1500 dollars or just some common sense stuff. I was leaning toward D and Ds what about the Dand Ds and the gipro ? Help any advice is appreciated

Probably not within your budget. The D&D's with the appropriate Triumph tune will gain you a few horsepower. That's where I started. I'm not sure the Gipro really adds power, but I have no experience with them so I'm not really sure.

To get the level of power you are seeking will require a full exhaust. Jardine is the only full system I know of currently available for the R3T. Then you will need a set of triple filters to provide the necessary air flow. And finally you will need a custom tune, either Tuneboy or TuneEdit.

That's the route I ended up taking and I believe my numbers are at least equivalent to or a bit better than the stock Standard/Classic/Roadster models.

Having ridden the R3T once back last December...I thought it was plenty fast the way it was. It's not as fast as the regular Rocket or Classic (or these days the Roadster) but it wasn't meant to be. I can't help you much on the pipes but the GIPro may be a good place to start. Removing the secondaries may help as well...though the GIPro may duplicate the same condition. K&N Filters, adding a turbo/supercharger would do it, I'm sure others will chip in.

But remember with the skinnier rear tire, the saddlebags, big windshield (though removable) it was designed to tour and hopefully give you a few more choices in the rear tire replacement category. And the torque. You may also get some added performance from tweaking with the ECU with a Tuneboy or PC...whatever number is the latest.

But if you really liked the "missed" power of your old Rocket...you probably should have just added Beetle Bags or Leatherlykes and tweaked that ECU for more performance plus you would have had more choices available for exhaust systems.

The GiPro and removing the secondaries will restore the lost 7% in 1st-3rd gears. No overall power increase, just makes it available in every gear. They remove the "training wheels".

Well thank you all you have given me a starting point. I know I want the d&d slipons. I also think i need to make this a work in progress. gpmaz are you happy with the bike now ?

I am very happy with the performance. I would prefer it not to be quite so loud, but a good set of ear plugs takes care of that.

TuneECU is a near-free method to do the same thing as the GiPro. Just the cost of a $15 cable.

If you go with intake and exhaust mods, you'll need TuneECU anyway and wonder why you spent money on the GiPro.

I certainly agree with dragger on the cost savings and ability to get in there and do what plug-and-play components do yourself, .... but keep in mind that you will be doing it all yourself. If you aren't the mechanic type, you could have some trouble. Some guys would rather plug in the box and be done with it. ;)

Tdragger, if I dont go with a Gipro but want to get the same performance using TuneECU.
Can you recommend a good tune for a stock Rocket 3 Touring.??
It would save me a bit of money if I do not need a Gipro.
