I finally found one!!

I have been looking for a good used or new rocket 3 and found one. New black standard out the door for $15,500 canadian still in crate.

Looking for some advise, would you guys wait and order the new roadster or jump on this deal which sounds good?

personally i dont think that's a great price.. with the relocation of pegs etc i would hold out and at least sit on or test ride the new when you can.
i think you'll either love it or hate it.

Well Red that I do not know if the currency exchange rate is the same as the USA if so that is pricey for an 08 or older as for 09 that does not sound like a deal just normal. If that were me I would see if some goodies come with her or not. Let them know you don't mind waiting for the roadster and see what they offer.

That's about $14600 USD. I don't think we can answer your question unless we know thw year and model and what, if any goodies come with the purchase.

My gut says that you may do better depending upon where in Canada you are located and what the add'l costs would be buying an R3 in the US and paying the tariffs and/or shipping costs to get it home to your side of the border!

Also, I would presume that the Roadster, being a first year model with probably little or no dealer incentives, will be thousands more than your "find".

Paid $14,199 for my '08 in july of '08 in the crate less than 2hrs off the delivery truck in Delaware. It's a standard R3 in black, if that helps make your decision.
They were tough to get new in black near me at that time and I wanted it BAD!

or would you take a slightly used one for alot less money?
If the second option appeals to you, then try ebay.
type in "triumph rocket" and see what pops up.
Thats how I found my wifes Rocket.

How tall are you? That will let us know whether you'd be happy with the farther back pegs or a standard or classic.
What bike are you coming FROM and what kind of riding do you do most of.
All these things need taken into consideration before you jump on any DEAL.

Pull the trigger

Sounds like you have shopped for a while and are familiar with the prices. I don't know much about tariffs and taxes or the conversion rate. I know this, if I would have waited 2-3 months to buy mine, 2008 std's came down a couple thousand American over that period. Well I did not wait and I have rotated home three times with her waiting patiently and you could not pay me $2000 for the joy and excitementI have had riding the beast This close to the end of the year you have the power because it will be a year older in 3 weeks. But how much is it worth saving money and looking at pictures compared to riding one? For me it was time, just time, if your ready pull the trigger and blast off on a Rocket. Hell if your ready to ride, and you found the one you want, lay down the money and never look back.

I am 6.1 and currently ride a 1999 yamaha venture which I primarily use for the long road trips and my wife loves the bike. I am looking for a second bike which i can use as the everyday bike bike. I sold my M109r a year ago and been looking since.

The asking price was $13995 for a new 2009 black r3 std out the door was $16800. I worked him down to $15500 all in. Was thinking about ebay but considering the tax and duty would be close.

There certainly is something to be said about having your 1st brand-new vehicle, EVER. Being 45 and had resisted the urge till now to buy something right off a showroom floor. And then it being something like a 2300cc Triumph Rocket III in the exact color you want and having your ars kissed for a little while by a dealership. Of course all the while knowing that it has been untouched by grubby human hands (assembled by monkeys) and didn't even sit in the showroom (delivered from England off the truck while you stood and watched) before you laid eyes on it. Having the tech come over to get you for a "fitting" while he puts it together before going home to wait and pick it up tomorrow morning. And can't forget that "superior/I win/You snooze-you lose" feeling, after hearing the anger expressed by two different customers that showed up while I was signing papers, VERY pissed that the bike they waited for and made a special trip to see in the crate, coming in TODAY, was already SOLD. (I loved that part the best)
I always went the sensible route before, never buying NEW, and getting ALMOST exactly what I wanted, and feeling good about my sensibility.
Not this time baby!... after researching all about R3's and deciding exactly what I wanted, walked in and BOUGHT IT !!!
It was a one time thing and I feel a little silly doing it, but what the hell ...

I pulled up to the dealer and there she set out front.
Had 82 miles on her.
Black, gleaming and big and Black with a black motor.
It was instant lust.
I set my grungy self on her and she fit like a glove.
Sellsman asked what I was use to,
I said 1340,
He said this is what got me off harleys,
I said, Bull****.
He handed me the keys.
The rest, as they say is history.
Yep, I fell for the old,
"just take her for a test ride",
just like the rest of you mugs.
But ain't we glad we did, nothin else like her.
