hi all,
The rear shock is too hard/harsh/tight/rigid from factory. The roads bumps or small road bumps feels a lot. Before I start looking into change the whole rear shocker with racing one (remote adjuster version 1400 GBP ) I am wondering if something can be done to this existing shocker,

- Has anyone tried adjusting the stock rear shocker on rocket3r?
- how do one adjust stock rear shocker? any tips or resource to do it at home?
(my dealer is 3.5 hours one way ride, I dont want to go to him)

Hi...You will find the preload setting at the rear is set on the very bottom setting from the factory. This is because it is to be adjusted for the weight of the rider....If you squat down on the left side/rear and look up just in front of the rear hugger (the small fender in front of the rear wheel) you will see the preload adjuster. Turn it clockwise all the way until it stops. You will notice a small 'click' as it does a rotation. Take it all the way to the stop then turn it back again for 9 clicks..you will be fine now.

There are 2 things that can make the ride hard. One is over damping. Following the manual and set the rebound and compression to 3 and it won’t be over damped. The other is the spring. If the preload is at its lowest setting, fully counterclockwise looking up, and the spring won’t move, then the spring is too heavy for your weight. The only solution is to replace the spring (or shock) with a lighter one appropriate for your weight.

thanks I will try that

If your hard ride is due to the shock bottoming and/or topping out, then yes, you need to apply some preload. What do you weigh?

I’m sure the spring rate is too heavy for you. I’m 165 and the shocks on my Rocket III, TBird and T120 were oversprung.
hi, thanks for helping, so what should I do with rear shock, can you give a rough idea? like loosen up the rear shock or tight it up?
