Thanks for the welcome everyone. As predicted it was a raining by the time I was finished at the bank, so no Rocket today. Since my last street bike was 39 yrs ago, figured my first time on my new Rocket should be on dry roads on a nice sunny day!! With age comes wisdom ....
Break her in slowly and gradually and she won't break you quickly and/or completely, X-man.
The best advice I could possibly render to any motorcyclist who's acquiring a new bike is to gradually explore and fully learn about the performance parameter of their new ride. That just happens to be doubly important with a machine with as much whip-azz on tap as an R3.
