In negotiations.

The offer is 2011 Rocket 3 Touring III SE Black/white $18,000.39 out the door.

What do you think ? I was thinking of chewing them down another 500 cause of the left over model year. Or is this a reasonably average cost for the bike ?
 
I'd beat him down all you can however you can. Some guys have mentioned the resale over there isn't great on the Touring, which means you might get your best deal on low mileage second hand one.
 
Where did you do the demo ride in NC? Send me a PM (private message) as I am a certifiable Rocket rider and in NC as well. Perhaps I can shed some light on your questions. The Rocket is a large beast and not for everyone. If you are finding issues with the kick stand location (I never have) perhaps it is your sub conscious telling you to downsize, just a thought. The Thunderbird may be more to your liking.
 
Most of the accessories you mentioned you should be able to get added with the 2500 incentive triumph gives with the purchase......so you are paying too much my friend....
Tell them to come down on price........check out Destination in Knoxville.........they probably have one alot cheaper.....
 
I test rode a T when they came out and really liked it. If I had to do it over again I think that I would have a T rather than my Standard. It would fit my needs better.

With that said, 2 things really put me off about the T.

1. The single headlight. Rockets must have 2 eyes. Otherwise, it looks just like a Road King. The upside is that the H-D guys will still wave at you thinking that you are on a RK.

2. No factory cruise control. It is inexcusable that in 2011 a motorcycle billed as a "Touring" model doesn't come standard with a cruise control. Really pisses me off when my brother can buy a $350 H-D kit to retrofit his 2002 Road King.
 
The price on a 2011 "Touring" includes most of the accessories you listed...they are now standard.

The 2011 is not a previous model year...yet. When a 2012 shows up...then you might have a little more wiggle room in that price. If that price is with TT&T fees and dealer set up...it is a reasonable price...but you may still be able to get it lower...depends on how long that particular bike has been sitting on the sales floor.

Haven't heard that many complaints on the 2010's and 2011's but the first two years did have some teething problems. Triumph usually backs their product pretty well.

Yes, In fact, 2011 are last years models.

Ray Price Raleigh has them and wanted to sell me the 2012.

.....and all the toys I mentioned are no longer offered stock for 2012.

Only 2010 and 2011.
 
I have not yet ridden the 2010 or the 2011. The demos were once on a 2008 and twice on a 2009.

Can those owning the 2010 and 2011 chime in about the first gear issue ?

Slow speed maneuver issues on a bike of this weight is potentially dangerous.
