The last few months or so my gearbox sometimes gets reluctant to change down. Usually its when Im in 4th.
I can press harder and make it change down or I can change up and then down change and it will go into a lower gear easily.
Im worried its going to lead onto bigger and badder problems in the future.
I would like to take it the dealer but it only does it sometimes.
Its a march 08 build with 38000klms
There is a serial number cutoff in '08 after which all bikes had the updated gearbox internals. Maybe someone here has the number handy or do a search to, hopefully, put your mind at ease.
I have 2-3mm as per book. This feels like its in the gearbox, not the clutch or incorrect oil. Oil is new and is Shell Advance Ultra 4 10W-40,full synth.
Thats what Im thinking,or something in that area. Its not too bad to ride,so Ill leave it until it gets worse. I might go down to the dealer and ask them for advice, but its one of those things where you have to ride it for while before it happens.
I've got an 09 R3T and it happens to me too sometimes. Usually if I roll up to light say and just click down, it's like the lever doesn't come back up.
I think if you change down with a little blip on the throttle it's ok.
But for me too, it's just a some times thing. I mentioned it to my dealer on it's 50,000 km service, but I'm sure they wouldn't have done anything.
Check the linkage from the gear pedal to the linkage that goes into the box. The pedal and the lever to which it is attached should be parallel. If they are not, or if there is slop, then that could cause problems.
