Blowin' up Clunkers

Watching these so called "Clunkers" having thier motors blown hurts my feelings. Such a waste. Here is a vid I took of a 5.0L mustang biting the big goverment weenie.

And the worst part about it is that the American taxpayers will be footing the bill. Don't forget those poor first time home buyers that are managing to get that 8k credit. They can expect to see the same added income and taxation.

What was the full story on this cash for clunkers orgy? Were recipients first given a KBB trade in value on the vehicles hiked up by an additional $4500. It that how it worked? Surely, anyone of those vehicles pictured above had a higher tade-in value than 4500?

...but like everything Obama does we have to ram this stuff through without thinking.
My question is, is it mandated that the engines be blown? Also, what happens to all the fluids when this procedure is used? How "GREEN" can this be?

Yes, the engines have to be blown. No driveline part can be saved. The salvage yards are to remove all fluids and crush the vehicle. Big Brother trying to force everybody into newer vehicles.
Are all salvage men obeying the rules? What do you think?

A bad part of the deal was that inventories of new small cars by domestic manufactuers was so low they were basically left out of the deal, and that was supposed to be the target of this program

Ford put 2 cars in the top 10, so they didn't do too bad.
