What was the full story on this cash for clunkers orgy? Were recipients first given a KBB trade in value on the vehicles hiked up by an additional $4500. It that how it worked? Surely, anyone of those vehicles pictured above had a higher tade-in value than 4500?
A friend of mine is in the auto trade and he was amazed at the amount of fools wanting to use the clunker program when the blue book value was much higher.
Yes, the engines have to be blown. No driveline part can be saved. The salvage yards are to remove all fluids and crush the vehicle. Big Brother trying to force everybody into newer vehicles. Are all salvage men obeying the rules? What do you think?
A bad part of the deal was that inventories of new small cars by domestic manufactuers was so low they were basically left out of the deal, and that was supposed to be the target of this program
