Burning oil smell

That oil use seems very high, a quart every 2,000 miles? Bike has a drinking problem. Are ya using 15w/50?

Going to revive this thread to see if anything new comes up from other members. It looks like @Redrocket465 is no longer here.

My 3R has always used oil- about 1 qt/2k miles.

Immediately after a ride, or sometimes at a red light, I can smell oil. I'm not a connoisseur, but it seems somewhere between hot and burning.
It goes away before I can locate it and there are no visual signs of a leak. Note: I have in the past had issue with one from the gear position sensor o rings.
I've never seen smoke from the exhaust or oil under the bike.

Anyone else experience this smell and, if so, do you find that you have to add oil between oil changes?

Mine is about a qt. every 5k. Mine smelled like oil after the dealership did the 20k. About a week later I checked the oil level. Way overfilled. Opened the plenum/air filter box and, yep, oil. Cleaned that mess up and voilà, no more oil smell. No more dealership visits either.
