My son lives just south of Claremore, OK and this truck is stuck in front of his house in a snow drift. This truck has an 8" lift and 36" tires. Son said he backed his 4X4 out of the garage to go and help him get un stuck and found he couldn't get out of the drive and then couldn't get back in the garage. For once a storm has lived up to its billing.
As a kid in Enid, I only remember one big snow storm. You could walk up the drift in the back yard and jump onto to roof. and walking to school there were no fences showing anywhere, we could walk straight there. Never seen another snow like it. it was sometime in the early 70's.

Y'all are pansies! Close the state for two days because of 12" of snow? Twelve inches of snow doesn't carry enough weight around here to use it as an excuse for being late to work. Back in December I got 40" dumped on me and the boss kept calling wanting to know what time I'd be at one of our clients, I'd have made it except some knuckleheads got stuck on either end of my street so I couldn't get by. Went in the next day though. We got a saying here in Buffalo - "it snows, deal with it".

In all seriousness though everyone be safe, we have the equipment and driving skills up this way to handle it, but for those in unfamiliar territory stay out of it before some idiot with bald tires decides he can make it to the store to pick up a 6 pack and some moon pies and skids out right into your car.

On the other side of the coin, a huge tropical cyclone is about to hit north Queensland - bigger than Katrina. Just what they needed after what have been already the worste storms and flooding in recorded history of this country. Thoughts are with anyone being hit by these.

Boys, some of you know how walmart is.
Neither rain, nor sleet nor dark of night will slow down walmarts profit.
Well for the first time ever, they shut down the distribution center.
sent us home EARLY, that never happens.....
we were there (some of us anyway)
but we loaded all the trucks, and they couldn't get more trailers in or out,
since the shipping dock was full, with no way to move any freight, they kicked me out.
Kinda hated it too, burn some of that O.T. I worked all weekend for.
we've got about 20" with drifts up to the windows of my truck......
Roof on the Hard Rock Casino collapsed,
only good thing about that is the roads are so bad,
I'm sure it was empty or close to it...
Still snowing and still blowin' out of the North.
Wife said Tulsa beat the 1 day snowfall record about 0800 this morning
and by now we've beat the 2 day snowfall record.
stay in, stay safe, an stay warm.
Best to everybody.

We were warned of a huge snow storm two days ago ... well it's here!
Turned out to be another false alarm, it's a little drizzle ... not even below freezing temps.
