There was generally an always drive left rule thru out history starting with the Romans .OK, you stubborn drongo.
Lets then just go with the number of left hand drive (RIGHT lane) cars produced versus right hand (WRONG lane) drive cars.
In later years with the organisation of cart tracks and basic roads , the keep left rule was adopted coz it was easier to draw a sword and attack any oncoming wrong doers . Bearing in mind most swordsmen were right handed ! This is why stairways in churches and castles always spiral to the right , harder to attack and easier to defend ! Then along came you mercans and your bloody great wagons pulled by large teams of horses . The driver would sit on the rear left horse to control the team . It was thus easier to avoid oncoming hazards and better judge clearance by travelling on the right side of the track and hence left hand drive cars many European countries adopted driving on the right coz they thought they were being big by copying you lot . So in answer to your question , more left hand drive cars are made compared to right hand drive cars coz there are more of you and your all rubbish at sword fighting ! !
