Has anybody had balance issues trying to balance CT's? I mounted a Toyo Proxes4 245/50/16 myself with only 100 cuss words. Please hold your applause, with no wheel damage what so ever!! I have mounted more tires than I can count and this R3 rear wheel was the worst by far. Mounting a MT on that rear wheel would have been just as painful. I've never seen a motorcycle wheel that didn't have a relief in the middle. Back to the balancing. The R3 wheel would not fit my static balancer. Off to the local bike shop for a balance. They couldn't balance it. Off to the second bike shop. They balanced it with 6 oz (168g) of weights. Thats 12 weights per side. I got the wheel back home and I couldn't stop looking at it. I took the snap ring off and removed the cush drive and behold it will fit my static balancer now. Guess where the heavy side was? I removed all 24 weights and static balanced it that way I've been doing for 30 years and it took 1.5 oz (42g) for a perfect balance. The factory weight when new was 45g. It looks like old school static balancing is the way to go here.

Put dyna beads in. I run the Toyo Proxes T1R and have 2oz in the back tire and 1oz in the front. I don't know how in the hell you mounted it. When mine was mounted I was stomping on it on the tire machine just to get it on. Hats off to you

FWIW, the DynaBead web site says not to use beads alone on a Car tire, because the beads can flop from side to side inside the flat tire, causing an out-of-balance condition. With a Bike tire, the centrifugal force keeps the beads in the middle.

Ima big fan of dyna-beads.

I run them in a 225 darkside rear and a E3 Donlop on the front. I wont change.

The lack of a wheel well on the stocker rear is no doubt a ***** to work with. Most have resorted to cutting the rear off.

Congrats on the no-scar milestone.

I hope no one tries to ride on a "flat tie" and would think DynaBeads would solve the problem. Dynabeads are highly recommended for oversize truck tires as well but they too are not effective on flats.

I would think that "balance" would be the least of your worries with a flat.

Well golly, flat-shaped tire. Not deflated. Duh!
My point was, the car tire won;t keep the beads in the center at speed,
hence the balancing effect is less reliable.

Cush drive question

What is the purpose for the cush drives, i'm looking to get a hub made for the rocket and i'm not sure if bst used them on their wheels when they did their design. I know on my m109r rc components used had me used them.

I think without a cush drive you’re asking for transmissions problems. I have a factory race KTM 560 SMR. It came without a cush drive hub. The KTM dealer laced in a cush drive hub for street use. I would say it does just what it's called "CUSH". It absorbs that initial energy.
