    TORS SHORTENED

Ooh - that looks mean. Although it's a bit more than just pulling off the end caps! Z

    TORS SHORTENED

Yes, they should pull off but no doubt the are rust-welded on. They are just embellishers. It'll make no difference other than leave an ugly end to the pipes.

    TORS

The top tip is to leave all nuts loose until all pipes have been assembled and alligned. Only then tighten down the clamps and other brackets. In other words don't tighten them as you go. In one case I had to loosen the header pipes a tad too, to allow enough movement to set up the pipes. Z

    Is this normal?

I think it must be a sidewalk arranged vertically. Z

Is this the bearing problem starting?

Leigh - I've had two Rockets and they both have a pronounced background vibration between 2000 and 2500 rpm, mostly noticeable in top gear. It worried me on my first Rocket, but the current one also has it, virtually from day 1. It may just be a feature. Good luck. Z

Classic seat on a Standard Rocket

+1. And make sure the cables can't jump out of their retaining brackets. That's a bummer too. Z

Almost Getting into 5th- is this an Upgrade Issue

I traded from a standard Rocket to Classic last year, with a toe & heel shifter. It was set up so that I couldn't easily get my toe under it to shift up using only the toe, and the heel was set too high for comfort. You can easily alter the length of the link so that you can get your toe under...

New Corbin seat effecting how the bike runs?

Hey IDK. I fitted an undertank K&N filter on my previous Rocket but never thought to fit the little breather filter too. Is this also required? I thought it was only needed when fitting triple filters. Z

    flyscreen and clutch cable probs

+1 Essential if using the stock fly screen on a Classic. But don't be tempted to use even longer spacers as it ruined the airflow for me - terrible turbulence around my head. Otherwise buy the sports screen which is designed for the job. Z

    flyscreen and clutch cable probs

It's a problem with the Classic, but shouldn't be with the standard Rocket, and I've used the fly screen on both. I took a couple of lengths of rubber fuel hose (about 4"), split it lengthwise and slipped it over the clutch cable to protect it from rubbing at extreme streering, both on the stock...

    Underseat K&N air filter

You're better off with the undertank K&N and release that very convenient underseat stowage currently taken up by the air filter. Z

    Contoured Rotors

These are claimed benefits from a manufacturer of wavey discs for BMWs: The advantages of the wave discs are: • The wave form aids self-cleaning of disc and pad. • Lighter than original, reduced unsprung weight. • Lighter disc = less gyroscopic...

    Brake fade!!!

Billy - let me know when you're likely to be down this way and I'll keep off the roads. Kidding aside, we have enough road deaths down this way, mostly sportsbike riders overcooking it on the narrow twisties, and meeting up with 4x4s, granite walls and/or barbed wire. The rule for...

    Oil Tank Insert

I too have thought about getting the 140 cubic inches insert, but it doesn't mean flap all to any one over. And the engine capacity isn't on the side panels on a Classic either, so Joe Public always assumes it's 1200cc anyway. Z

    Stuck saddle

Assuming the cable hasn't popped out of its retainer, the best thing is to sit on the **** thing and bounce up and down as you turn the key. Works for me and keeps the neighbours entertained. Z

    single seat???

+1, but you'll need to remove the pillion support (obviously). Three studs - either allen or torx headed. Make sure you replace the studs that hold this support in place as they also secure the rear fender. I use extra washers under these so that the threads don't get exposed to the spray...

    Tire change- what an ordeal

My local Triumph dealer does it and never mentions any problems. Simple answer - don't watch. Leave the wheel with them and let them get on with it. It's a method I've found works better as I get older. :D Z

Dealer reinstalled rediator cocked to right

My rad was fitted exactly like that from new (one of the mounting pegs not lined up) and bolted down tight. I discovered it when the radiator started to leak from one of the seams due it being twisted. It was replaced under warranty. Watch out. Z
