1/8mi drag race Touring vs the GT

Kevin, I have no experience racing engines but I've read that using a vacuum pump to create a vacuum in the crankcase can reduce blowby gases by helping to elimate foaming in the oil. It also helps with the horsepower because the pistons do not have to compress the air in the crankcase on the...

Emptying rear brake reservoir but no leak

????? I've taken many master cylinders apart over the years and the diaphram was never perforated. It is designed to move up and down with the brake fluid preventing air and moisture from entering the fluid reservoir. Now as the fluid level goes down a vacuum is created below the diaphram...

Emptying rear brake reservoir but no leak

Actually, for practical purposes they are sealed by a rubber diaphram which sits between the fluid and the cover. As the brake pads wear the fluid in the master cylinder reservoir is used, displacing the outward movement of the caliper pistons as they compensate for the pad wear. The diaphram...

    火箭三R中气缸压缩为零。有人知道原因吗?

Based on what he just shared about the exhaust valve having no clearance, the valve isn't closing even with the decompressor deactivated. He stated he cannot insert a feeler gauge. For whatever reason, the valve needs to be adjusted... I wonder what the other exhaust valve measurements are...

    火箭三R中气缸压缩为零。有人知道原因吗?

This may sound obvious but did you ensure both intake and exhaust valves were closed (piston on the power stroke)? We don't want to assume anything here... Is it possible the exhaust valves for that cylinder were on the exhaust stroke when you forced air in the spark plug hole???

    Rear brake fail

Well the rear brakes on the older Rocket 111 were more than adequate. I could lock them up when wanted. Often did this when bleeding the rear brakes. This would get the oil in the ABS unit cycling. A few lockups then rebleed. NP. By the way, I have 75,000 kms on my rear brake pads... Still...

    Chasing gremlins

I'm a little late to the party. Glad to see you are making progress. After reading the complete post, I don't have anything to add other than reinforcing the request to recrimp the 2 primary wires going to each coil (3 of them). These always loosen off with time creating a misfire. I don't...

    Failure during manufacturing...

You wonder if this was a Monday or Friday bike??? Totally unacceptable. I remember when I worked in a GM dealership back in the 70's seeing a Chevy C10 pickup come off the transport with Chevy C10 markings on one side and the GMC 15 markings on the other. Another time a Chevy pickup showed...

    2012 R3R-Engine Knocking/Ping around 2000 RPM-FIXED

Please check the 6 exhaust nuts holding the header to the block. These will come loose causing engine noise especially under load. Just retighten. Make sure the domed nuts aren’t bottoming out. I’ve had this happen several times on my Roadster.

    Clutch pressure plate lifter bearing.

I think that is the first failed ball bearing I’ve seen for a lift shaft. Normally, it’s the lifter shaft button or actuating rod that fail.

    Gearbox repair?

Well this is a new one for sure. Reversed gear selection after repair??? I don't know if that is possible with the internal mechanism, mind you, I've never had mine apart (one of the more experienced fellows can comment). I'm guessing the outer linkage was somehow initially hooked up wrong...

3rd gear slipping on high torque

Hans, sorry for coming across a bit harsh... We ask questions and make suggestions to help diagnose a problem from afar and instead of answers we often get more questions (implied doubts) which leads to frustration. Personally, I thought your mechanic was questioning us and our skill level...

3rd gear slipping on high torque

Based on your description of what the "SLIPPING" feels like in third gear, you have a problem with the clutch as Kevin stated. A defective gear set would skip (broken teeth) or jump out of gear (worn dogs). You stated "the bike's rpm increases, but the speed does not...". That my friend, is...

    Missing, rough running….maybe?

Make sure the 2 primary wires going to each ignition coil are tight. The crimp connectors are known to loosen off so much it causes a misfire. 2 coils are easy to get at but #1 coil is a pain. If the connectors have never been squeezed tight they are past due with 60k on the clock. I did...
