    Newbie saying hi to all

Gidday mate, welcome to the forum. So, given that this is a forum for Rocket 3's, are you thinking of getting one shortly? or have you maybe joined this forum instead of the Triumph one? No worries either way . . .

Panniers, why so difficult to obtain in New Zealand?

Having Triumph make a couple of new ones up would be horrendously expensive for 2 lock barrels. That's what ya need though, wonder if a locksmith like chubb or ross gault may be able to assist with a solution. The idea is all the locks work off the same master key, but the barrels themselves...

Things I've noticed riding in the cold.

If we can get heated grips then why not heated levers? Little element running in the centre getting them nice & toasty.

    TomTom to the Rocket 3GT

I had a Zumo on an earlier bike, while it worked ok, I found the Garmin operating system very clunky & hard to get my head around. Base Camp, that was next to useless for me. I did use the Zumo for several years though. Since getting the R3GT I've converted to Waze on my phone. Got a...

    Hello from Florida

Gidday mate, welcome to the forum. Tell me, do you still get that stupid grin when cranking it on? For me, it never seems to get old, just wondered it's still there for you?

Anyone Else Lost a Heat Shield Yet?

Putting JB Weld onto threads means you'd never get the screw undone again. If you're worried about bolts loosening, maybe use a touch of blue loktite?

Panniers, why so difficult to obtain in New Zealand?

15th I'm heading from AKL to New Plymouth, 16th New Plymouth to P/North. Could well be giving you a wave.

    Researching R3 Ultra 4 Possibilities

Gidday mate, welcome to the forum. Seems a very expensive way to slap an engine into something. Would you not be better off getting a 4 cyl Busa engine & working the magic from there? It'd be waaay easier and there's lots of go fast mods avail, you can get huge numbers out of them if you want.

Panniers, why so difficult to obtain in New Zealand?

Have you tried Filco in Nelson? That's where I sourced mine, (few months ago now though) only issue was the horrendous cost of the things. Where ya going in Feb? I'm off on a 10 day North Island roady mid Feb myself.

    Staking tool?

For a staked nut I've always just used a sml cold chisel to stake it. To un-stake it, just use a decent powered driver, they will generally undo the staked nut - well, so I've found anyway.

This is what Google / AI have to say on it . . .

    New to the Rocket family

In NZ we only use RON as a measure, nothing else & no Ethanol gas either, no E10 or E85, nothing. So it's easy for me, book says 95 so that's what I use. Other countries have different standards & fuels, so guess ya just use that which suits your profile best.

Anyone Else Lost a Heat Shield Yet?

Hmmm, so are these headers twin walled? Didn't know that. Still, my money is on the JB Weld melting / burning off.

Anyone Else Lost a Heat Shield Yet?

Google says typical exhaust header temps are in the region of 1000 - 1600 degrees F. That appears to be rated to 550, so 3 layers would do it eh. Yeah nah, it's gonna burn.
