    Spark Plug Blown Out?

True, but rhe Ramair is a distant proposal, at least until I find gainful employment. Right now, after spending wodsadosh on the HT leads and needing new brake pads and tyres......

    Spark Plug Blown Out?

OK, loads of good advice received, thanks. I ended up chasing the thread like Gerald suggested, then new plug finger tight plus a 1/4 turn. Didn't want to take the risk of torquing it up too much. After waiting ages for the new HT leads to get here (anybody'd think there was a war around here...

    Doesn't Tuneecu show fault codes?

    Accessory Clock

It does sound like a loose connection. The speedo gets it's signal from the ECM through the speed sensor, but according to the manual if the speed sensor's faulty it would throw up a P0500 error code. I'd try disconnecting and reconnecting the black (A) ECM plug. Or give 'im a wee shoogle.....

    Spark Plug Blown Out?

I also realised the plugs are NGK DPR9EA. The manual says DPR7EA, although some comments on this forum say there's a choice between those and DPR8EA. TheDPR9EA's are colder plugs and could explain why they're a little dark, some minor carbon deposits. I'm starting to wonder what a previous...

    Spark Plug Blown Out?

That's what scares me. There are vids on Notmetube showing guys rethreading the plug hole, and they make kits for this; some take it seriously, some less so, and one buffoon's idea was to run the engine with the plug out to blow the swarf out, but I'm not sure I'd ever be comfortable with it...

    Spark Plug Blown Out?

Was there any lasting damage? I used the borescope and the threads look a little rough but intact. As my abilities improve I'll see if I can take some useful pics tomorrow. I'm reluctant to run a thread cleaner down them in case I drop swarf into the chamber though, so after all this talk...

    Spark Plug Blown Out?

Thanks guys, but another question, and sorry if I'm drifting off thread.... I'm sorting out the compression test now, but I can't get the engine to crank more than one revolution. Battery's charged & plugs are all out, but when I hit the starter it turns then cuts out. Hit it again and same...

    Spark Plug Blown Out?

That's kinda why I was asking, nobody I spoke to has come across something like this, but I'm actually a bit relieved. The noise had me worried - I couldn't track down anything blowing with the tank down, so weird thoughts around blown head gaskets or sticky valves without the obvious other...

    Spark Plug Blown Out?

Thanks Atomsplitter. Interestingly the plugs all showed corrosion around the faces, like you spotted, except the affected one. I wonder how long it's been sitting there, working loose. Washing is a twice-weekly activity here with all the dust.

    Spark Plug Blown Out?

Guys, while trying to sort out a "misfire" in my 2012 Roadster, I came across something I've never seen before. The number 6 plug was out of its thread completely, laying at an angle in the tunnel/hole/shaft - I fished it out with long nose pliers. The plug gap is completely closed. The HT...

    Power Commander V

I did some reading, and the PCV quickshift can handle upshifts, but wrong throttle control for downshifts. Think I'll give it a miss. However.... I'm also looking at a stage 2 for my HD, when I can afford it, and stripping the PC5 to reuse there might be an option.

    Power Commander V

Eh? Sorry, I've never used one, and I don't ride that fast these days anyway, but you still have to use your foot, unless there really is something new?

    Power Commander V

I wish, but I don't have a left ankle (literally) to use it. I need to lift my whole foot off the peg to change, making it a rather more deliberate process......

    Power Commander V

Thanks. Forgive my simpleton brain - the PCV (or PC5) adds or subtracts to/from the values in the ECU map, but doesn't hold the base values itself. Correct? So changing the ECU map could, as you say, give some really odd behaviour without also changing the PCV additions/subtractions. So...

    Power Commander V

Thanks Leatal - but my question in basic terms is; if I load a new tune into the ECU using Tuneecu (which I have tried) will it have any effect, or will the PCV always override it and do its own thing? I'll read up on using the PCV, but initial impressions are it's a bit too advanced for me - I...

    Power Commander V

Thanks Atomsplitter, there's a manual for setting up the unit specific to the Rocket, but the PCV's already installed on the bike. My question is, now that I know the PCV is there, changing the map using Tuneecu would be pointless (and a lot of wasted effort already), correct? I also don't see...

    Power Commander V

Thanks Kevin. I didn't think the PCV was responsible for the missing cyl, I was just curious as to what good it does on an unmodified (Jardines) bike? It's an expensive addition, and unless there's more going on in this bike than I know, a bit of a waste. I've had the plugs out and it is...

    Power Commander V

Guys - genuine question, be gentle. 2012 Roadster. I'm trying to sort a "firing on 2" issue, and it's the first time I've had to remove the side cover. Imagine my surprise to find this.... So, given I have Jardines fitted but OEM intakes, what good is the Power Commander V? I'm a noob at...

    I have a dead Coil.

At the risk or resurrecting an old thread, would a dead coil/loose connection generate an error code? My 2012 Roadster suddenly started running on 2, haven't had time to have a detailed look yet, but no error codes on TuneECU. I am desperately hoping/praying/beseeching to all that's holy that...
