    Spacers we’re just slightly larger nuts over the screws to sit in the existing slot where the screw head would be in the second shield.

    They are not cheap but I have had Rizoma’s in the past and the quality is spot on. BikeBiz in Oz has them, they Are sold per mirror. https://www.bikebiz.com.au/products/rizoma-reverse-retro-black-bar-end-mirror Triumph used to make similar but can’t find them anywhere.

    The underside is not brittle, heating will cause you trouble getting a clean hole for the supplied grommet to go in.

    I did it on mine, as long as you use the right drills it is ok. Use a drill bit from the top that just fits the top holes to get your centre. Then use a stepped drill to expand to the right diameter.
