New Zealand volcano erupts

Felt profoundly sad for the people that were injured and died and their families, bad way to go (not that there's a good way). Went to see the 1996 eruption and even the ash after landing on you and mixing with sweat burns your skin.

We have visited White Island before and can confirm its one of those places it feels you feel like you just shouldn't be, but spectacular at same time. The Island used to be a sulphur mine and has exploded in 1914 causing a big landslide, no one really knew until the resupply ship arrived and found everyone on the Island was dead (10 people) apart from a single cat, name Peter the Great. They took the cat back to the mainland where it was looked after like a living memorial till a ripe old age.
